  5. The Most British Office in London

Someone chose to put two Union Jack armchairs and an exercise ball in their office window for all of London to see. I spotted this walking past an office block and the arrangement stopped me mid-stride. The chairs are proper wingbacks, upholstered in full flag regalia, flanking a slightly deflated-looking exercise ball that's doing its best to fit in. Someone in that office has a sense of humour, and I'm grateful they put it by the window.

  7. So I posted my "Unity Jack" in a flag-design group on Reddit, and it was flamed to incineration - redd.it/1sc3tsk - so I've now dialled it back a bit by reverting the whole background to the original dark blue. Again, it's available in SVG format at cmacleod.me.uk/oddsnsods/unity .

  13. Sitting on a Sea Turtle in Piccadilly

We’re near Piccadilly Circus, there’s a big painted sea turtle sculpture on a blue plinth, part of a public art trail supported by Deborah Meaden and Steven Bartlett, no less, and absolutely nobody sitting on it is paying the slightest bit of attention to it. They’re all on their phones.

The star of the show for me is the person in the middle, who has gone full Union Jack: hat, bag, the works, paired with red tracksuit bottoms and a set of brightly coloured trainers that honestly deserve their own photo.

    Love London for street photography!

  15. Hype for the Future 75D: The Union Jack 🇬🇧

Introduction The Union Jack, though representative of territories far beyond the territories symbolized on the flag, is of particular importance as the official flag of the United Kingdom. Combining the crosses and saltires of Saint Andrew, Saint George, and Saint Patrick, representing Scotland, England, and Ireland, respectively, the modern Union Jack is most clearly identified by a combination of three (3) distinctive crosses. While the white outline also exists in the standard render of […]

  17. Hype for the Future 50J: Additional British Overseas Insights

novaTopFlex has just finished identifying attractions in the British Overseas Territories. Unlike the hustle and bustle of a city like London, not a single territory in the British Overseas can claim such a fast pace of life. The significantly more modest pace of life in an area such as the Cayman Islands or the Turks and Caicos Islands is often further mitigated by the waterfront, of which the Overseas Territories provide plenty of shore as many are insular. Gibraltar, of course, is the […]

  18. Hype for the Future 50F: The Virgin Islands of the United States

The United States Virgin Islands 🇻🇮, formerly Danish, apparently violate international law by driving on the left side of the road, in spite of being claimed by the right-driving United States. International legal conventions often expect all sovereign states to have the same driving direction throughout their respective territories, yet numerous additional examples may also be identified, such as Canada remaining a Commonwealth realm yet being a right-driving sovereign state. The […]

  19. Hype for the Future 50C: Montserrat

Montserrat 🇲🇸 is an island nation located in the Lesser Antilles and toward the northern end of the Leeward Islands. Plymouth is the capital de jure of the British Overseas Territory; however, the community has no permanent population followed by the impacts of a significant volcanic eruption 🌋 on the southern side of the island. The northern side of Montserrat has largely remained unaffected, but southern Montserrat, including the capital, had been significantly impacted while the […]

  20. Hype for the Future 50B: Turks and Caicos Islands

The Turks and Caicos Islands 🇹🇨 refer to an overseas territory of the British located at the southeastern end of the Lucayan, or Bahamian, archipelago. The largest of the communities associated with the Turks and Caicos Islands is the island region of Providenciales in the west, though the capital, Cockburn Town, is located on the eastern side of the area on the Island of Grand Turk. While the Cayman Islands are located south of Cuba and west of Jamaica, the Turks and Caicos Islands are […]

  21. Hype for the Future 50A: Grand Cayman

    Introduction

The Cayman Islands 🇰🇾 are one of the British Overseas Territories and the particular territory with the largest count by population. George Town is the particular town that serves as the capital of the Cayman Islands and is located on the western end of the Island of Grand Cayman.

  22. Hype for the Future 48D: Flags for the Emoji System

As many as nine separate emoji flags are disconnected from national identity, though the crossed flags 🎌 are firmly Japanese. The additional flags are the white flag 🏳️, the black flag 🏴, the pirate 🏴‍☠️, the checkered flag 🏁, the red flag 🚩, the rainbow flag 🏳️‍🌈, the transgender flag 🏳️‍⚧️, and the Flag of the United Nations 🇺🇳. 24. Keir Starmer says he’ll turn the Union Jack into a “symbol of inclusion” and reclaim it from the far-right in a major speech before the Labour conference. More here: https://www.gbnews.com/politics/politics-news-latest-keir-starmer-union-jack-labour-reform-uk-lib-dems #UKPolitics #UnionJack

  25. 🇬🇧 So now we’re at the point where simply raising the Union Jack could get you debanked.

According to reports, patriotic Britons are being warned that showing national pride may soon be treated as a political statement serious enough for banks to shut down your accounts. Think about that for a moment, the flag of our country, the Union Jack, waved at sporting events, at remembrance services, at Jubilee celebrations… now seen as something risky.

This is madness. Debanking should not be a weapon to silence people’s beliefs or strip away their ability to live. Access to banking is a necessity in the modern world, without it, you can’t pay rent, get wages, or survive in basic dignity. To threaten ordinary people with financial exclusion just for being proudly British is nothing short of authoritarianism creeping in through the back door.

We’re told this is about “safety” or “extremism.” But where does it stop? Who decides what’s too patriotic, too political, too controversial? Once a line like this is crossed, it can be moved again and again until nothing is safe.

If patriotism is now enough to have your bank account closed, then we’re not living in a free society anymore. We’re living in one where control is the goal, and every symbol, every word, every act of identity becomes a potential trigger for punishmen

This isn’t about right or left, it isn’t about parties or policies. It’s about whether we as citizens still have the right to stand proudly under our own flag without fear of being erased from the financial system.

  27. Following recent events here in the UK, especially those of last weekend in London, this week I've written about the need for liberal-minded Brits to reclaim our national flags.

  30. Anyone in Kiwiland want to explain what I'm seeing here?

It looks like indigenous New Zealanders claiming that their version of Christianity must be imposed on New Zealand.

Looks like they want a nationalist Christian theocracy.
    ?

Pretty sure that Christianity was imported.
What's up with the colonialist religion and the #UnionJack being pushed.

    Are they fascists?
