I have now also deleted my personal Google account. There is definitely a certain nervousness that I might have lost something valuable (I did lose some Google Play Store purchases) or be locked out of a service I logged in to with Google (though I can't remember any, and I haven't used Google in almost a year), but the feeling of freedom from a company that grows more inhuman and plainly evil by the day vastly prevails.

Your blog makes it very clear.
I 100% agree with you when you say we don't escape google by using their stuff. So 1° for me, no google pixel and no android at all
2° LINUX is very reliable.
3° if I didn't have 2 ooooold Samsung Galaxy phones (one A6 and one a10), I would choose the fairphone, for the same good reasons you gave.
4° I will try hard anything I can do with these phones, before deciding to 1/2

Beim Blick auf den Stand des Sicherheits-Updates meines Handies (12/2024), wird der Wusch nach einem neuen laut.
Aber die Auswahl teilt sich aktuell ja nur in Pest und Cholera.
Entweder mit Google an Board und alle Apps laufen garantiert, oder zu einem CustomRom passendes Gerät ohne Google, aber mit hoher Wahrscheinlichkeit, dass wenigstens ein paar unverzichtbare Apps nicht funktionieren.

Finally deleted my Google account (after successively removing all Google services I had used). It was interesting and unnerving to observe how often I had relied on my Gmail address, so it took a long time to make sure I'm not locked out of any services without the account. (To be honest, I'm still not 100% sure, but I'm willing to take the risk.)
