Ernüchternd: ich habe gerade 1,5 Stunden lang versucht, wie ich "schnell" mal eine aktuelle #Linux Distribution per #LiveUSB ausprobieren kann.

Fazit: 3x mit #Unetbootin für #ubuntu und #fedora einen USB-Stick formatiert. Thinkpad bootet nicht vom Stick sondern fällt immer wieder ins #Windows rein. Auch mit F12 und dem ausgewählten USB-Stick gings nicht. Liegt bestimmt am #Thinkpad. Aber was muss ich anders machen?

Das ging vor 10-12 Jahren out of the box.

Боролся с восстановлением системы #timeshift не дало результата, переустановил систему на #manjaro 23 т.к. залитый образ 24 версии не пошел в live режиме, будто разрешение экрана было овер дофига, чем 1080p. Заливал образы через #rufus а до этого через #unetbootin (неудачно было). В итоге поднял систему, сделал снимок, восстановил программы снова снимок (не знаю нафига, #timeshift все равно не сработал) думаю теперь как переехать на другой DM с #lightdm на #sddm потом как нибудь соберусь в кучу и изучу это дело. Вчера (нехотя поначалу, а потом с увлечением) модифицировал свой мультиметр, поставил li-ion батарейку с платой зарядки/питания, радости было полные штаны. До этого мультиметр попал под коробки, кнопка включила мультиметр и "крона" села... Полгода лежала так, как-то раз нужен был пробник, пришлось ваять на макетке через светодиод :ablobcatdundundun:

@soipa74 I don't know anything about #unetbootin, but I have installed Linux Mint many times following the installation instructions at https://linuxmint-installation-guide.readthedocs.io/en/latest/# and never had a problem.

Dans l'espoir de créer une clé #usb sous #windows10 afin qu'elle puisse démarrer l'ordinateur à partir de l'image #iso d'installation d'#ubuntu

C'est pas faute d'avoir tenté #etcher, #rufus et #unetbootin

Alors que les bonnes vielles manières sous linux :

$ cp ubuntu-22.04.3-desktop-amd64.iso /dev/sda
$ sync

/!\ s'assurer que /dev/sda est bien la clé usb destinée à l'installation et qu'elle n'est pas montée

Et ça marche 🙂

Sono 2 giorni che provo ad #installare un flavour di #Ubuntu sul mio #Thinkpad, e arrivato al 60/70 % di installazione di blocca sempre con questa scritta, è una cosa SURREALE. Ovviamente ho già:

- scaricato varie volte la/le #ISO via #torrent e verificato il #checksum sia corretto (lo è)
- provato a creare la chiavetta usb con qualsiasi SW, tipo quello di #Canonical, ma anche #unetbootin o anche dando un semplice dd if= of=
- verificato il disco e la ram
Si accettano consigli dal #fediverso 🙂

Okay nerds: what makes #YUMI, #Rufus, #UNetbootin, and #balenaEtcher different things that should each exist?

So after ensuring that everything is backed up, it looks like #Ubuntu has replaced #UNetbootin with with a tool that only lets you create Ubuntu boot disks. Canonical, I expected better of you.

Note to self: Next time when I'm looking for „that tool to write ISOs to a #bootable #usb medium“ don't waste my time with #unetbootin again just because it is the first name that always pops up in my head and just use https://rufus.ie right away 🙄
