Well, it's official. I've been #unemployed for over 24 hours. I've already started putting out applications, even before filing for unemployment - that'll be a task for tomorrow or Friday.

Seven and a half years of my life were dedicated to that company. It's not hard for me to say that they kept me alive through the 2020 lockdowns.

Now it's time to take my next step. I'd wish for luck, but I don't need that. I need a job that suits my experience.

I'm officially unemployed (again), and all my applications have ended as usual:

- Countless rounds of interviews, after which I get a modified offer, or silence.
- A trial period with low to no payment, after which they just find someone else.
- A message telling me they can't hire people in Venezuela due to unavailable payment gateways, inflation, etcetera.
- A twisted deal that is basically scam.

I'm tired of this. The IT job market is so shitty now. I don't know what to do.

I’ve got really long hair and have been out of work for 6 months. I keep thinking I need to get it cut to look more ‘presentable’ to prospective employers, although if they won’t hire me because of my hair, do I really want to work for them? Then again… the money is running out and I don’t want to lose my home.

Sometimes people tell us to "get a job" as if it's that simple.

There are multitudinous good reasons why we:
1. Consider our work for Vulpine Labs and the local community more important than any run of the mill "job".
2. Cannot seriously be expected to attain traditional employment.
3. Shun traditional models of pay in favour of Mutual Aid.

And we won't let capitalism grind us down.

Today, Atha:
Reset the mouse traps in the bus
Cleared snow off the bus and car (altitude does not care for your "seasons", mere mortals)
Got a new phone from a good friend
Set up an LELink LeafSpy OBD2 device to help diagnose and fix the car
Did some reading at the library to get back in the mood for learning Python

And Inara:
Did trans HRT injections
Did some cleaning and tidying
Took the car to do a slow charge session
Did some phone setup
Will likely cook food for us and a homeless friend, and do some VR.

The horrors persist, but so do we.

Someone who lives in a makeshift forest shelter wants to join us in the bus soon.

The Vulpibus now has an air conditioning unit fitted. We have installed a longer 4G antenna.
We almost had somewhere to go and park a while, but the landowner backed out. Again. And the convoy we are trying to form is moving along.

So the bus is still in need of a diesel refueling, and the current prices make that a matter of about $400. Links below.

We would really love to convert this bus to an EV but that is going to need a much more generous level of help than most folks here can provide.

There are also many debts to deal with, including car loan and insurance, and bureaucratic needs that have fees to pay. Capitalism is ruthless the most when it is legally enforced and you still don't have the means.

If you want to help out with any specific thing, please let us know. Otherwise donations are put to the most pressing need.
