  1. Feeling undervalued is one of the worst feelings in life, work, or in our personal lives. Is what we are doing worth it? While we should not need validation to live, it helps keep us on track and can give us purpose in what we are doing. Show those around you the value they bring. #value #undervalued #appreciation #worthit #validation

  4. Mid afternoon thoughts on #appreciation:

I once read a quote which said, “you should stop doing things when they are #expected rather than appreciated.” And, while I don’t think it applies to every situation 100%, I do think it’s a good guide.

The most common complaint I hear from people about their #work (whether that’s paid, volunteer or domestic) is that they don’t feel appreciated - by their bosses, colleagues or partners.

In most instances, a little appreciation goes a long way. A #ThankYou or an #acknowledgment don’t take the place of a #PayRise, a #bonus or #SharingTheWorkload but they do mean a better work environment for everyone.

People who feel #UnderValued often also feel #resentful and that adds to #ToxicWorkEnvironments.

None of us are perfect but we can all try to show the people in our lives the appreciation they deserve and hopefully some of that comes back to us as well.

"...purchasing hundreds of thousands of #vouchers,...By all accounts, many of these enterprises were shockingly #undervalued — and those who were able to get large chunks of lucrative enterprises became fabulously wealthy in a very short period of time."

And then things got completely of hand:

    "By 1995, #BorisYeltsin..."

  6. I don’t want to go back to work tomorrow. I love my job but I hate that I have to work. I hate that it is a requirement of society that I must earn money in order to live and that my time and effort is not valued as equal to anothers. And the stupid thing is, if my employer weren’t restricted by a budget to pay employees, they would give everyone as many hours as they wanted to work and we would probably all be more productive because we’d want to be there, not need to be there, and we wouldn’t feel undervalued and overworked for the hours we actually do.

    Other #underappreciated #professionals who keep the world running include #SocialWorkers, #secretaries, #nurses, and #PublicSchool #teachers.

(Now what do these all have in common, besides being #undervalued? Could it be that the front line jobs in these #professions are mostly staffed by #WOMEN ?)

  8. At work today. Providing the 7 day NHS service that the government doesn’t think exists! Never forget that Austerity is a political decision to underfund and devalue public services, while creating huge profits for Tory donors. #ToryCorruption #NHSDoctorLife #WeekendWorking #OnCall #Underpaid #Undervalued #7DayWorking #Underfunded #politics
