"#HarrietTubman [was] a brave woman who was called 'the Moses of her people.' Tubman memorized the routes and went back at least 19 times to the Eastern shore of Maryland where she originally escaped from. Carrying a rifle, she would walk with her company at night, heading north and passing through New York’s Finger Lakes, across the international bridge at Niagara Falls, to St. Catharines in Canada."
"#WilliamStill, who was born in New Jersey to a formerly enslaved couple from Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay region, moved to #Philadelphia in 1844. ...known as 'the Father of the #UndergroundRailroad,' Still coordinated many Underground Railroad escapes and received over 900 passengers who made their way to Philadelphia and continued on to points farther north, including Canada.

April 20, 1853 - Harriet Tubman began her Underground Railroad, a network of people and places that aided in the escape of slaves to the north.

The POTUS apparently thinks doctors use beams of healing light, that magically emanate from their palms, to do their fucking jobs, and heal people.
What's worse, is that roughly 33% of Americans believe the bible is literal, too.
Religion is really fucking horrific, friends.
In every guise, it's still a disguise, in every form, it is still formative, yet formless.
In every clothing, it's a wolf, in the disguise of a shepherd.
They've never cared for you sheep, whilst they lay down with the wolves.
Genuinely, science can't give you promises, but as regards illness, and suffering, especially when it's your own kid, science can give hope. It can.
Stop praying, because it will harm your child's chances of survival.
Under RFK, Jr., in America, right now, though...don't stop praying. Your odds are better.
If you are lucky, you will stumble upon amazing healthcare providers, who just ignore the bullshit, because they are smart. You will be in their hands, and that will result in best-efforts care.
If you are unlucky, you will find yourself in Trump's America.
Humans are out here - you have to find us, though, and it might be illegal to be human. We'll see how this goes...

New lecture video "Black Georgians, Spanish Florida, and the Seminole" freely available at the Georgia Archives YouTube page; you can access this from the Archives' homepage.
From the beginning of the Revolutionary War to the eve of the First Seminole War in 1817, hundreds of people of color in Georgia and, to a lesser extent, South Carolina crossed the borders and boundaries separating the Lowcountry from Spanish coastal Florida and from the Seminole. This counter-narrative in American history is a potent reminder of the strength of Black resistance in the post-Revolutionary South and of this community’s ability to shape the balance of power in a contested region.
Dr. Paul Pressly is the author of ""A Southern Underground Railroad: Black Georgians, Spanish Florida, and Indian Country" from the University of Georgia Press.

💁🏻♀️ ICYMI: 🏙️🕯️ For nearly 200 years, an #EastVillage rowhouse at 29 East 4th Street kept a heroic secret hidden within its walls.
Historians recently confirmed that a narrow shaft hidden below built-in drawers was designed to hide freedom seekers on the #UndergroundRailroad. Built in 1832 by hatter Joseph Brewster, the site is a rare physical trace of the abolitionist movement in a pro-slavery era.

Hype for the Future 39B: Harriet Tubman
Harriet Tubman, perhaps among the best-known historical figures associated with the Underground Railroad, is largely connected to the area around Cambridge, Maryland, and throughout Wicomico and surrounding counties. Located along the Eastern Shore, east of the Chesapeake Bay, the community around Cambridge is most highly renowned for the historical sites of Harriet Tubman and her legacy.
