One of the best movies I've watched in the past couple of years is Uncut Gems.
Adam Sandler does so well in this more serious role, and I'd love to see him do more films like this.
If you haven't watched this movie yet, I'd highly recommend it. But some warning, if I could rename this movie I'd call it "Anxiety: The Movie".

Finally watched this film and now I understand why it had so much hype about it when it first came out. This movie was really suspenseful and makes you want to be at the edge of your seat as you’re watching it, Sandler did an amazing job, and now I can see why he was nominated for an Oscar for this role. It’s definitely one of his better movies and performances. Also, it was nearly Aristotelian, at least from what I remember from the Unities. After the brief prologue:
Tight focus on one character. Taking place over a short period of time.
Taking place overwhelmingly in a single location, if the NYC area counts. -
CW: Very vague “Uncut Gems” spoilers, mention of the ending tho
I was, however, not crazy about the decision to begin and end the movie with looks inside Adam Sandler’s body. That much of Adam Sandler I didn’t need to see.

I don’t like Adam Sandler, and I don’t like movies that are all about unlikeable people, but I still really liked “Uncut Gems”. It’s entirely in the direction: the movie has this incredible energy, this sense of movement, that keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time.
