The home I grew up in hasn't always been a place where I felt safe. The threats weren't obvious, or loud, but rather found in dark, and silent spaces.

But there were sounds I found to be soothing for the nervous system. Like the clattering of a sowing machine, or the clicking of an old-fashioned typewriter.
