"Someone earning minimum wage needs to work 61 hours a week to afford a modest one-bedroom apartment in Maine.

"Maine, like last year, was ranked 26th, which makes it more affordable than any other state in New England. That’s because someone needs to earn $28.42 per hour to afford a two-bedroom unit in Maine — nearly double Maine’s current minimum wage of $14.65 — according to the study."

  6. Bite me, Republican Fascist Scrooges. Half of our #renters are shite out of roofs. The #GOP is now pro-homeless. 🤬

    #Housing is now #unaffordable for a record #half of all U.S. renters.

A new Harvard analysis finds people across income levels got squeezed by #renthikes during the pandemic. The market has lost millions of low-rent places, and new #construction is mostly high-end.

  7. I hate, hate, HATE the #term “affordable #housing.” I hate that we’ve #normalized it. I hate that we just accept that the #majority of housing, a basic #human right, is #unaffordable to much of the #population. Housing should be affordable as a baseline. If rich people want to add arcades and gold-plated hot tubs on top so be it, but #everyone, everyone, regardless of income level, should have access to a clean, comfortable #home with enough light and space to make #life worth #living.
