Today was threshold day again. Two 15-minute blocks with a 5-minute recovery in between. I also managed to run a 10k personal best. I'd never seriously attempted a fastest 10k time before, but there's clearly room for improvement.

Back into the Threshold Tredmill after a week playing in the French mountains.
Buddy Bas succesfully finished his UTMB 100K Nice Ultra within the cutoff time.
Very happy he could finish his project succesfully.
It was fun to support him. High up in the mountains racing from one aid station to the other in the middle of the night 😃.#Trailrunning

And I've changed my program again.
I'm now using a two-week training cycle where I run every other day. A long run on the weekend, and during the week, I do whatever the Garmin Daily Suggested Workout recommends for that day.
The long runs include elevation gain, based on my October goal (Bear Trail, 58km, 1500m).#Trailrunning

I decided to run the Houttrail 25km route again this morning. Because some of the paths were quite overgrown, it was sometimes difficult to navigate.
There was an overgrown section with ferns taller than me, which were also wet from the morning dew. As a result, I was completely soaked after just a few hundred meters :-).
Fortunately, the sun quickly came out, and I dried off quickly.

Finished the #Skyline50k #trailRace in 9:34:51 yesterday! My 3rd best 50k, and first 50k in over two years since the Marin Ultra Challenge 50k in 2023.
It was quite the journey to get back here, and a lot went well in this race. From training to preparing and planning, the temperate cool weather for most of the day, and executing perhaps the best I have in a race.
For now, I am very happy with my performance in this #Skyline race, and want to express my thanks to Scena Performance (@scenaperformance.com @ScenaPerform) for putting on such a welcoming, friendly, and supportive event.

Since Feb this year HR-rest steadily goes down. Today it was the 4th time this year it bottomed at 39. All these 4 times where in Juli.
Also HRV average is steadily going up.
All signs that the body is responding well to the training program. -

(1/2) I've been using Garmin DSW as a training program for a month now.
What I find advantageous is that my training is precisely aligned with my physical condition.
The program intervenes if my HRrest or HRV threatens to become unbalanced or if I'm not getting/getting enough sleep. -
And that's VO2Max workout number two this week. If you still have the romantic idea that Garmin DSW workouts are short and easy than I now have prove of the opposite.

The thing about Garmin DSW is that if you run a long trailrun race at base speed, you're immediately in a high aerobic deficit, according to Garmin. You'll then be treated to a 30 minute threshold block during your next workout. Next time, I'll just run a bit faster during the race 🙂

The Veluwezoom trail run went as planned today. The goal was an average pace of 7min/km. To achieve that, I'd decided to run the first 20km at my base heart rate of 129. If I still had some energy left in the last 10km, I could let go. And that's pretty much how it went. Although the heat and high humidity also caused a slight increase in heart rate.
Final verdict: Mission accomplished! 😊✅

Got out of bed early today to do my final taper workout. The race tomorrow is a B-goal for this year and I am curious how I am doing performance wise. Last weeks I added some more threshold work to my training and increased the base pace slightly. I hope this will result in a bit higher average pace tomorrow.

Humango wanted me to do a 49 min recovery run, but that was a bit too tame for me. After all, Garmin had already released me with zero recovery hours left. So it became an easy run with a few tempo blocks. Turned out that my body still seemed a bit tired from yesterday's training. #trusttheplan
