#UltraEthernet 1.0 specification had been planning for a Q3-2024 release but now into Q2-2025, #UEC 1.0 was just released. UEC 1.0 specification is focused on high performance, scalable, and interoperable solutions across all layers of the networking stack and with emphasis on multi-vendor integration. UEC delivers on modern #RDMA for Ethernet and IP, open standards and interoperability, and end-to-end scalability.

Even though the final UEC 1.0 specification is due in Q1 2025. The AMD #Pensando #Pollara400 is a #400GbE Ultra #Ethernet card based on a processor designed by the company's Pensando unit. The #NIC will sample in the fourth quarter and will be commercially available in the first half of 2025, just after the Ultra Ethernet Consortium formally publishes the UEC 1.0 specification.

Many #HPC centers in #US – importantly #Sandia and #LawrenceLivermore as well as the Texas Advanced Computing Center (#TACC) – wanted an alternative to #InfiniBand or proprietary interconnects like #HPE/#Cray’s Slingshot, and they have been funding the redevelopment of Omni-Path. And now, #CornelisNetworks is going to be intersecting its roadmap with Omni-Path switches and adapters with the #UEC roadmap.
