    TIL that containers are not just stacked on a #ULCC, the ISO standard for the containers includes a specification for containers to interlock at points corresponding to the corners of an ISO standard 20' container. 40' "double" containers and even the US-specific "oversize" 53' containers all maintain the same interlocking points. (A 53' container overlaps a 40' container by six and a half feet each end, but still locks to it.) So the containers lock to the one below them, all the way down to the deck, functionally tying all of the containers into the ship's structure.

    So what you actually end up when you're done is kind of a     #Lego freighter ... 😄

    @asadotzler This is uk.ac.nsfnet-relay and uk.ac.ean-relay (or nsfnet-relay.ac.uk and ean-relay.ac.uk from the other side of the Atlantic) at #ULCC in 1992.
