The rainfall rollercoaster continues…
March was another mild month but a very wet one with almost double the average local rainfall for east #Dorset. This is even more remarkable following such a dry February. Over the past year or two, the swings from dry to wet months have been quite extreme, which appears to be another effect of #ClimateChange in Southern #England.

According to the Met Office 3-month summary: -

95% chance: Average-warm.
85% chance: Average -dry.
85% chance: Average-calm.

So there’s a good chance of the next 3 months being warm, dry and calm.

Mid January to mid February has been extremely dry in Southern England and NW Europe. I have recorded just 13.0mm rainfall so far in February - the average February rainfall for this area is 62.5mm. Looking back through my records I notice that February 2012 was also very dry with 13.3mm, and it’s interesting to note that this also followed a prolonged La Niña period.
