"Revelations" of £40k annual travel expenses for UEdinburgh's VC don't seem a productive direction for campaigning to solve UK uni structural funding issues. Yes, that's a lot, but he's the VC – it's necessary to travel and promote/represent the uni.
Should he go e.g. premium economy rather than business? Maybe? But no-one would call for the CEO of a FTSE company with 10,000+ staff to do so, and the possible saving is worth perhaps just one PhD stipend or admin junior...
