I have been following this tragedy for several decades.
The police have compounded their incompetence, ineptitude and attempts to coverup same at every opportunity they have been given to them to act with decency and contrition.
Police forces around the world refuse to accept accountability and actively deny their victims justice.

Normally I don’t see the point when a ceo, or such like, resigns (e.g. BBC), but…. In this case, the chief constable obviously is not on the ball, and possibly not even at the game.
Resignation seems appropriate.

I keep seeing articles with stats saying various things have led to a number of arrests.
Is it just me, or is that a totally useless statistic? Great, they've arrested 500+ people. How many of them have been prosecuted? How many actual convictions? How many were false arrests? How many people were falsely stopped because the system got it wrong?
Number of arrests alone is entirely useless and treats the public as idiots.

U.K. police say that no further action will be taken against the Northern Irish band Kneecap over remarks made during their performance at the Glastonbury music festival. Avon and Somerset Police had launched a criminal investigation into the Irish language rap trio after they referenced band member Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh's upcoming court case. After advice from the U.K.'s Crown Prosecution Service, police decided to drop the investigation on the grounds that there was "insufficient evidence to provide a realistic prospect of conviction for any offence."
