@Kierkegaanks @kibcol1049 A local pub (and Ingerlish Restaurant) had a big board outside for posting #UKIP propaganda . I remember literally LOLling in the street when I read their clueless energy policy. Obviously their supporters wouldn't know, which is how they keep getting away with their scams.
"Bring smog back to London, where it belongs (Don't worry, only where the immigrints live.)" That was not strictly "a quotation". It was just illustrative banter. They love banter.

Douglas Carswell was elected as MP for Clacton in 2005 and in 2010, both times as a Conservative. When he defected to UKIP in 2014, he resigned his seat and was re-elected for UKIP. He won again at the 2015, but left UKIP in early 2017, and stood down at the 2017 general election.

Carswell was UKIP's first MP elected as a UKIP candidate, but not its first MP. Conservative MP Bob Spink had defected to UKIP in 2008.
