  1. Worth noting that Sterling is up against the US Dollar and Euro. So, markets are scared by this #UKBudget

(Unlike the Truss budget that tanked the UK bond market. A reminder to #NeverTrustATory )

  7. On active travel, it looks like an extra £100m for the financial year - so, scraping behind the sofa for money for walking, wheeling, and cycling. Great, thanks(!)

  8. And rail fares are going up by more than inflation again too, also in the context of the bus fare cap rise, while drivers receive another long-standing fuel duty freeze.

So, no effort to remove car dependency and encourage more sustainable transport choices.

  9. Continuing the fuel duty freeze *again* at a cost of £3bn while increasing the bus fair cap by 50% ... that shows the government's transport priorities then, and the car wins. Again. Screw everyone who can't, can't afford to, or does not want to drive.

  10. We agree with increases in Capital Gains and Inheritance Taxes, and in Fuel Duty.
We don't agree with increases in National Insurance paid by employers.
There are lots of other opportunities for tax increases that do good, and we spell it out in. #GettingReal

  11. Who will the chancellor cut #transport costs for in tomorrow's #ukbudget? Who needs it more? #FairFares #Fares

  12. If you cut £380m from active travel, but don't claim £6bn by increasing fuel duty, you're not doing it to "balance the books". It's #carbrain ideology that screws over everyone who needs or wants to travel without a car.
