The UK's MASTIFF just put out a new EP today, 'For All the Dead Dreams', so I have that #NowPlaying, and it's a great one, of course. #NowPlaying a throwback to the late 90s/early 2000s. Add N to (X) were a very strange, synthy, blippy electronic band that were only together for a few years at the middle/end of the 90s, and barely into the 2000s (they broke up in 2003). They made some catchy, weird songs.

This week's #ThursDeath is a twofer. Death-doom two piece GRAVE EATER from Wales, UK put out two filthy demos in 2020, one in January and one in September. Not sure which I like more, but they're both chock full of raw, cavernous, growly, sludgy, often slow, plodding riffs and grooves. Even some actual power tools in the last track of the first demo here, 'Powertool Lobotomy'. Hope we see more from Grave Eater soon.

This week's #ThursDeath is Glasgow's ABYSMAL DECAY. These guys put out this 2 song demo earlier this year and it has a great cavernous grimy kind of sound to it. Some cool dynamics with the slow to the very fast tempos too, solid OSDM feel. And even a slimy, crusty solo or two from whatever crypt or cave they created this in.

#NowPlaying this wild new band I found the other day-- they're called The Lotts, they're from Warrington, UK, and this is their most recent EP, 'Ice Cold': https://thelotts.bandcamp.com/album/ice-cold

It came out in 2022, but it sounds like it could've come out in the 60s. They also have some newer singles from 2024 on Spotify, if you choose to brave that wasteland.

At first I heard a definite Stones influence, then Beatles, both of whom were influenced Chuck Berry, who I also hear. I hear some Kinks too, and maybe even Zombies. And as @wendigo pointed out, there's some Blue Cheer in there. Great, simple blues-based fuzzed out rock with catchy, killer songs.

More of this, less of everything else.
