  1. Working class woman MP suggests perhaps her colleagues shouldn't be getting pissed on subsidised booze while they're at work.

Response from Commons: boos and jeers. Remember a not insignificant number of these people are millionaires.

Response from PM: avoid the question.

Where's Guy Fawkes when you need him?

  2. The fucking hide of this witch, who literally made people showing solidarity with Gaza into terrorists, then took away their right to a jury trial.

  3. A new U.K. Member of Parliament has caused a bit of a hoo-ha after highlighting the attitude to alcohol in the House of Commons. Hannah Spencer, a Green Party M.P., appeared on the Politics Joe podcast and told the host that some politicians even drink between voting on key issues. "I can't imagine if a cleaner did that or someone working in a bank. Like, had a few drinks and went back to work, smelling of alcohol," she said. Some of her colleagues pushed back, with one pointing out that "drinking at work" can sometimes take the form of taking visiting constituents for a drink on the building's terrace. Here's more from @BBCNews. What do you think?

  4. This has to reach the masses - it's no good just a very concerned sector seeing the National Emergency Briefing

"A credible national briefing from independent experts would give people clear, trusted guidance on what these risks mean in practice, and what we can do - both together and individually - to prepare and respond."

  5. I recall when Starmer was making maneuverers on Corbyn he became all Pro-Europe and "we need change or Reform UK will get us" and then he got in and did the opposite of all that until it was too late and oh....here's Wes Streeting doing exactly the same thing now 🙄

So tired of Labour Psychodrama, I wish we could leave them to it and vote Greens all the way into No 10 but that's unlikely so we have to give a faecal particle or two at least 😞

  6. So the Green's Defence policy of weening ourselves off fossil fuels and the bastards who pump them is once again the pragmatic one?
I may not agree with every part of the GPEW policy on our clown nation's defence but they're very right about this.

  7. I may not be right. It's horrible trying to sift across journalists' social media to figure this out.

Best case though, it's yet another comms fuck up. Worst case, vague wording in the sanction definition is being leveraged to ease temporary fuel costs.

If the latter, that's very bad imho.

  8. He's right to ask for clarification, especially since Chris Bryant has just apologises for cocking this up.

Best I can gather from the horrible reporting is that the sanctions coming into effect today were announced in October and, like all new sanction measures, have a temporary phase-in period where they're more lax to prevent big shocks.

These new ones don't have an explicit end date for the phase in, which some have interpreted as a waiver.

  9. A story in two parts.

Lots of nuance to unpick. Six points is more than fine in the current timing — opposition parties headed for government aim to have ~20pt leads around now — especially with positive outcomes landing on every front at the moment.

And on the other side, Burnham is just a figurehead at this point with nobody knowing his platform or how things would go in power compared to the current government.

    Still, food for thought.

  10. Pretty shocking intervention from MP Karl Turner during PMQs, saying that when he questioned the government's plans to restrict jury trials, the No 10 operation issued hostile briefings against him and questioned his mental health.

I fucking despise these people and their entire class.

    Feck this for an idea.
Is this the Labour Party emphasising flying off on holidays over support for Ukraine ?
No doubt the airlines have been lobbying hard.
The Labour Party has lost it's way.

  14. It is kind of weird being in a situation where virtually everything is getting better but everyone is very angry and insistent we must change course, so much so they're swarming to reckless populist parties while stirring division and chaos.

  16. The UK government has done WHAT?

Jesus Christ, maybe the government don't give a shit about Ukraine, but do they not understand that it is the whole of Europe that's under attack?

If Putin gets away with invading Ukraine, do they really think he'll just say "thank you very much, I'll stop there"?

    This is utterly shameful.

  17. Not quite as egregious as Farage not showing up for the King's Speech (or most other things), but not far off.

Tons of folks have noted the Greens' turn away from being green-oriented already. That a junior minister for energy is only now realising it when it falls to House business being neglected is at least a little bit his own fault.
