Ken Hon was my mineralogy, optical mineralogy, petrology and volcanology prof. He took the min class to see Kīlauea's lava flows. It's so fun to know he's now the scientist-in-charge at #HVO. I've heard that he's been really great at keeping people informed.
The photos show Ken, in a yellow coat, down on the ground filming a lava flow.
The other is the second big group trip to the active lava flows way back in the 1990s.
