Gestern haben uns 18 Schüler*innen besucht, um am gemeinsamen #Girlsday & #Boysday in die faszinierende Welt der Klimaforschung einzutauchen. Gemeinsam mit dem #DKRZ haben wir vielfältige Einblicke gewährt: beim „Speeddating“ mit unseren Forschenden, am #Supercomputer & Klimaglobus im DKRZ und bei den Messeinrichtungen und im #Windkanal der Uni #Hamburg. #UHH

@isotopp irgendwie hoffe ich ja dass der Irre das durchzieht und es dann endlich endlich genug Druck gibt, hier eigene bzw. nicht-US-basierte Lösungen umzusetzen. Die Uni Hamburg hat gerade alle Rechner in der Verwaltung auf Win 11 und MS Office 21 umgezogen und gibt trotz strukturellem Defizit von 15 Mio € im Jahr deutlich mehr für MS Lizenzen aus während der Rest überall einsparen muss und Stellen vakant gehalten werden. Participating (and actually contributing a little) to the 'Ethical Research Practices' day at #UHH. I will be talking about how to cheat using ChatGPT 🤭

⛅ Cloud feedbacks remain the largest contributor of uncertainty to climate sensitivity, &tropical high clouds are most uncertain. Combining cloud-resolving simulations with #ICON & the radiative transfer model ARTS, our #IMPRS candidate Jakob Deutloff developed a conceptual model that links the high-cloud radiative effect to cloud thickness measured by ice water path. It reveals that high clouds are slightly warming the Earth, even more so for increasing amounts of low #clouds.
