Since #Ugent admits having appointed a pseudo scientist, I just might apply for a Chair in #parascience, #alchemy and #witchcraft, refering to my withcy ancestory and higher education in ancient times.
In my demonolgy course I would refer to #Cofnas and the likes as the devil and not Petra and trans people. So no worries there.
And who knows maybe i'll turn lead into gold 😉

Last week, the 1st #GeoAI conference took place at #UGent! I had the opportunity to attend interesting talks, engage in discussions about the future of the domain, host a workshop about the #DarkSideOfGeoAI, and, last but not least, present our work on #VISQAM, funded by #NFDI4Earth and made 100% in-house at IFGI, Uni Münster.

After days of pressure, #UGent rector Petra De Sutter is finally coming to our open spokescouncil inside the occupied Refaat Alareer - ufo- building.

Last week, the #university shut the door on public dialogue, unilaterally ended negotiations, and responded to student protest with an eviction order. They wanted closed-door talks with a small delegation. We refused.

An #academic #boycott of #Israeli institutions is not an internal issue to be managed behind closed doors. It is a topic that concerns the entire university community, and society at large.

Two years after UGent promised to cut 13 institutional ties, only ONE has actually been terminated.

Twee jaar geleden hebben de studenten de #ugent in een #bezetting ingenomen om te eisen dat de banden met #Israel verbroken zouden worden omwille van hun #genocide tegen het #Palestijnse volk. 40 dagen lang leefden we en sliepen we in het UFO

Ondertussen maakt de UGent voorzichtige stapjes in de goeie richting - voor een groot deel dankzij de druk van de bezetting - maar het blijft te weinig.

Bij ons vertrek maakten we een belofte. Tijd om die in te lossen?

OK, after 2 days of messing around with Linux Mint next to working on a fresh Window 11 enterprise set up for our organisation, I can tell you that Linux Mint is more stable in its behaviour.

Whether or not my new Windows laptop wakes up from sleep when docked, is a seemingly random event: sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't and there's no way of knowing when it is one or the other.

Let's hope #UGent shifts to Linux really soon.

They're back :-) The past years a couple falcons nested in a hole more or less straight above my office. This morning, when I arrived, I heard their call again. Checked and sure enough, one was preparing the nest and later joined the other one in one of the trees.
