Manhattan’s UES is where the “old money lives. many are asset rich but cash poor, so quite a number of the city’s mini-epidemics start there. sanitation becomes secondary for people who always had servants. about 15 years ago we got a nasty bedbugs epidemic that originated there.

Look, I'm not complaining at all, my current living arrangements are the best I've ever had and I wouldn't want to go back. But ten years ago I would look out my apartment window and see this. And yeah, I fucking miss that at times.
