@stdevel @vincentdettmer Ja ich nutze das seit einigen Jahren nach #WebOS und #UbuntuPhone zuvor war hat man gleich gemerkt, dass #SailfishOS super flüssig daher kam und einen guten Eindruck in der Bedienung macht. Das OS ist also definitiv zu empfehlen. Ob man damit aber als "einziges" Smartphone klar kommt hängt entscheidend davon ab was man von einem Smartphone erwartet. Den Jolla eigenen Browser hab ich mehr oder weniger abgeschrieben.

Ubuntu on phones now receive initial VoLTE support
If you are using one of the supported Ubuntu Phone devices, such as a Volla 22 (contains a MediaTek Helio G85 SoC) or a Fairphone 5 (contains a Qualcomm QCM6490 SoC), you can now use VoLTE on your device.
The necessary modifications for both SoC vendors have been added to both the Noble Numbat version and the Focal Fossa version so that VoLTE works on these devices that have Ubuntu Touch installed. However, for other phones, such as Xiaomi and Google Pixel phones, it’s on the developer who created the port to modify it so that it works with VoLTE.
While they have tested the functionality with both high-quality voice calls and SMS messages, they have reported issues when working with MMS. In the status bar, if your phone shows VoLTE, this means that you can have high-quality voice calls.
In order to try out VoLTE support, you must make sure that:
- your phone is running the latest version of Ubuntu Touch,
- your phone supports VoLTE, and
- your carrier and your cellular plan support VoLTE.

Trying to install UBPorts on my old Nexus 5 while internet keeps flaking out. It will be done but damn it UBPorts make the ROMs available for offline loading this online only installer crap blows.

Bq, Makers of the First Ubuntu Phone, Have Gone Bust
The company behind the first retail Ubuntu Phone and Ubuntu Tablet has gone bust. Spanish hardware company Bq (also known as Bq Readers) found moderate successful selling a range of Android phones and tablets in Europe. But it gained more attention when it repurposed several of its handsets in 2015 to run Ubuntu Touch, later launching a pair of ‘convergent’ tablets too. The first Bq Ubuntu Phones got a lukewarm reception. Artificial scarcity made the handsets difficult to buy, and the comparatively high cost for lower-end specs dampened enthusiasm. Sales were also (considerably) lower-than-expected, which (one assumes) fed into Bq’s :sys_more_orange:
