Völlig unabhängig von #unplugtrump (aber da zahlt es natürlich auch ein) habe ich endlich den Umzug von #windows auf #linux vollzogen. Für Ängstliche: #linuxmint oder #ubuntucinnamon sehen aus und fühlen sich an, wie Windows. #firefox bleibt #firefox, #thunderbird bleibt #thunderbird, #libreoffice habe ich auch zuvor schon genutzt, lediglich am Umstieg von #lightroom auf #darktable (oder dann doch #rawtherapee?) habe ich noch zu knabbern und:
Kennt jemand ein vernünftiges Banking Programm (a la WISO Mein Geld)? Bei #firefly bekomme ich FinTS nicht vernünftig zum Laufen, #hibiscus funktioniert, ist aber sehr basic und optisch eher letztes Jahrhundert... -

Today reinstalling #ubuntucinnamon on the Surface Duo Laptop. 64 Gig SSD is not mutch to go on but it should be enough. Going for a minimal install focussing on command line apps instead of GUI apps. The little machine reminds me of the 12 inch #ibook i used to own

This time around there’s a newbie in the pack: Ubuntu Cinnamon, welcomed into the Ubuntu flavour family back in March after several years as an unofficial Ubuntu remix. In this post I share a concise overview of what new features and changes are present in the most popular Ubuntu flavours, along with downloads links so you can download them to test out yourself. Unless otherwise noted, all flavours inherit Ubuntu’s foundational packages, so you get the same Linux 6.2 kernel, updated graphics drivers, app updates, refreshed tooling, :sys_more_orange:

What’s the best way to sample the Cinnamon desktop on top of an Ubuntu base? You may be minded to answer Linux Mint (and that wouldn’t be a wrong answer) but with the upcoming release of Ubuntu 23.04 there’ll be a new choice to consider. The Ubuntu Cinnamon Remix team have been coaching for official status among Ubuntu’s family of flavours for a while. This week they achieved it. Following a vote of Ubuntu’s Technical Board, Ubuntu Cinnamon 23.04 is going to the first official release of this spicy new flavour. As you can probably guess, Ubuntu Cinnamon is a :sys_more_orange:
