Grrrrrr.
So I finally got unifi 9 up, and got the mongodb server upgraded from 3.2 to 8. This is a pile of garbage the UBNT should have automated and decided instead "meh".
They get a lot right, and a lot wrong and I wish there was another good self hosted single pane of glass option to genuinely compete.

Really wish #Ubnt would get their crap together and make the topology view actually accurately reflect what's going on on the network all the time instead of randomly forgetting switches exist.

Spoke too soon! It looked like it adopted everything, but after everything updated and rebooted, my other devices were still showing offline.
Looks like ssh'ing to each of them and running `syswrapper.sh restore-default` puts them back into factory-restore mode, and then they start the adoption process when they come back up. Not too bad.

Always a bunch of effort making changes to this rack but it's operational again now.
I removed the F5 BIG-IP and put an actual shelf in there now.
I still can't decommission the QNAP TS-453A because I now need to RMA the QNAP TS-464U because Bay 3 has a dead MOSFET. So much for the HDD RMA...
Anyway, this is my last change before MFF!

Given this week's 10.0 CVE, Ubiquiti is quite on fire, so maybe this snapshot shows us a way out?

Spent a lot of time over the past few months evolving my home network from #ubnt everywhere to having #pfsense as my security enforcement.
So far, I now have various vlans for IOT, management, family and guest. Remote access, dns sec and #pfblockerng
Now the challenge is to use #acme certificate manager to automate letsencrypt certs across the network.
Not looking forward to getting the UniFi controller cert replaced 😳😳

I’ve had issues with my #ubnt #cloudkey for as long as I can remember.
Backups, updates and random behaviours have royally got on my nerves. So much so, I started looking at replacing ubnt across the board.
In a strange turn of events this evening, while trying to get routing sorted on our vpn, I found that it’s default gateway was still set to a firewall I replaced over TWO years ago. #fml
So spent this evening manually getting a backup, and reconfiguring. Wow, the interface and features have moved on! Routing also works 😂

I’m in the process of re architecting my home lab and network. It’s been too long since I did too much exciting with it.
So far I’ve ripped out my #ubnt #usg and replaced with #pfsense. Ram #cat6a everywhere. About to order a 10Gb switch and upgrade to wifi 6.
#homeassistant is on a dedicated network with all sorts of fun going on.
Anything exciting I should be looking into?

Seems like #ubnt doesn't actively develop their EdgeMax components anymore despite dropping the occasional security fix. I was thinking of flashing #openwrt onto my #edgerouter X if it goes EOL.
Is this a good way to go about it?
I read I'd lose hardware offloading capabilities going with #vyos for example. Not sure if it would even matter for my workloads. -
Just ran the last power cable to my PDU!

Just set up aggregation on my server using dual 10 gig SFP+ with DAC. Let’s see how fast this can go 🚀

can't believe it's been 8 years (-> https://yeri.be/outdoor-wifi-pegasus-park). A few more buildings interconnected and an upgrade from older #ubiquiti M2 loco to 5AC loco...

After spending several hours trying to make it work, I am done with the #unifi Secure Gateway (USG) and will be returning it. It just does not want to play nice in my existing network and causes website browsing to be flaky. Was trying USG + ER-X + UAP-Pro #homenetwork #ubnt

People like to post their #ubnt setups on /r/Ubiquiti/ and all I see are unlabeled and not color coded cables. 🤪

@rtwx
Just last weekend I replaced our HP M220's with 3 #UBNT nanohd's on a 150W Poe+ switch. Very impressed with the hardware! Had a little trouble setting up the controller (if you're planning on using it on a rPi, better test whether it won't kill your other services - my VPS just slowed down too much after installing the UBNT controller). Also: don't mind the errors in the journal right after restarting - 'unifi failed' is a lie and may cause an incredible loss of time 🤦♂️.
