Nous ne supporterons plus #Facebook. C'est un site répugnant et anti-utilisateur. Tout ce qu'il fait, c'est observer les projets open-source faire l'ensemble de leur travail en public et les contrer pour diffuser des publicités malveillantes. Oui, les développeurs qui touchent des salaires à 7 chiffres ne font rien d'autre que ça.
Les utilisateurs devraient leur faire les retours les plus virulents. Se soumettre à eux, continuer à aller sur leur site et les soutenir est la pire chose que vous puissiez faire.

I also use #UBlock to hide results from certain websites in #DuckDuckGo, e.g.:

UBlock is really cool.

You can use UBlock's cosmetic features instead of Mastodon's (or other Fediverse software's) filters and mutes functions.
This is especially useful for shared accounts, e.g. for activist groups.

You don't want to see posts by some bot for example, but others using the same Mastodon account do, just filter it locally in your browser.

For Mastodon in the UBlock settings under "my filters" add:

fediverse.instance##article > div > .focusable.status__wrapper-public.status__wrapper > .status-public.status:has-text(/botaccount/)

replace fediverse.instance with your fediverse instance and botaccount with the handle of an account, hashtag or word you want to mute.
Copy paste and edit it line for line for everything you want to mute (you can always mute more accounts and stuff later).
Hit "apply changes".

CAVE:
* For software other than Mastodon the filter will have to look differently.
* This filter applies for public timelines only. If you want to mute notifications or hide PMs from certain accounts in your PM list you'll have to use a different filter.
(I can share different filters if you have need for some, or if you want to find them yourself use UBlock's element picker and add the :has-text(/xxx/) bit at the end or e.g. replace the :nth-of-type(4) with it).

Ab August hat Microsoft begonnen, Manifest v2 Erweiterungen wie #uBlock in #Edge nicht mehr zu unterstützen. Damit fällt eine weitere Browser-Option weg. Ich nutze aktuell #Helium (geschäftlich) und #Firefox (privat).

Si comme moi, tu es situé au Maghreb et plus précisément en Algérie et que le site du Parisien te fait crasher : Firefox pour Android, Fennec, Google Chrome pour Android, Vivaldi alors utilise l'extension :

- #uBlock Origin et active l'option de blocage du JavaScript.

Probably not related but now that I'm talking about UBlock Origin, if you use UBlock Origin, I implore you to go to your settings then "Filter lists" and enable the following filters:

- EasyList/uBO - Cookies Notices
- EasyList - Annoyances
- uBlock filters - Annoyances

These remove cookie notices, AI chat, nag messages and other annoying shit, HOWEVER they are NOT enabled by default when you install uBlock Origin extension.

Enable those, it makes browsing the web more bearable.

Side note: you might STILL come across cookie banners and other annoying stuff because these filters are not as good as the filters for blocking tracking and ads, but it still makes browsing the web more bearable.

And maybe it might also get rid of Reddit upsell dialog, not sure but it's worth a try, but if it doesn't, there are other ways to do the same with UBlock Origin

Just your friendly reminder that every web page begins with HTML, and you therefore easily can block everything from websites you don't want to support.

Add a simple entry to your uBlock Origin “My Filters” tab like x.com##html and links to x.com statuses will no longer load.

No bandwidth wasted on “login to read”.

There are DNS related methods even more thorough, but the uBlock filter is just so very handy.

I've been running a combination of uBlock Origin and Privacy Badger extensions in Firefox.

I started with just Privacy Badger. I figured I should encourage ads that aren't intrusive trackers. But then even that proved too much and I broke down and installed a full blocker.

An amazing thing about the open internet is that you can just opt-out of things you don't like. We might have a nicer internet of more people did this.

I found out that Microsoft Solitaire Collection is apparently playable in the browser, but unfortunately it successfully detects uBlock Origin in Firefox/Librewolf. Can anyone figure out how to prevent this detection?

Y'know, #adblocker isn't a fitting enough name.

I have to belabour how it's more of a thick jacket in a cold winter storm, a sunhat and sun lotion in scorching heat, a lock on your houses door.

It is so vital to your privacy, security and even sanity that it is nothing less but a necessity for everyone.

If you intend to use the #web, use an "ad blocker" - and #ublock is a good choice.
