The "CET" time zone has vanished between Debian 12 and 13.
For good reasons. This is not a time zone but a time zone abbreviation. We should use "Europe/Paris" instead.
Now we have a crisis meeting because it's a major breaking change that can't be fixed because nobody knows how to set the time zone to a different value in the application 🤦♂️

This "deprecation" was never visible at any level, there's no discovery path for anyone that found or otherwise used these and stuck with it.
But none of that matters: The most recent Debian 12 installer still unavoidably selects US/Pacific for people living there, today.

Timezone definition update for smartwatches rolls out
Recently, the timezone definition for smartwatches running Wear OS based on Android has been updated to support the latest changes made to some of the timezones. According to the IANA timezone database that Android uses, your smartwatch gets the latest timezone information from such database that uses the official timezone definitions according to your country’s government.
Some countries have ceased using summer time, and some others still use the summer time. The database reflects all the changes to the timezones according to each city in each country.
Now, people have started getting the timezone definition update through a small notification saying that their watch has been updated to use the latest timezone definitions and to reboot it to finalize the update. This was the notification:
In order to update the timezone definitions, restart your watch using the
Restart nowbutton found in the notification. If you have dismissed the notification, the next time you restart your watch, the timezone definition update will be installed. The update will be installed instantly and in no time, unlike major software updates, such as the upcoming One UI 7 Watch (or is it One UI 6.5 Watch?).#Android #news #oneUi #Samsung #smartwatch #Tech #Technology #Timezone #tzdata #update
