  1. The issue that has really moved a lot of folks like me who used to be distracted by the "why did they have gun?" argument off to fully into the ACAB perspective is that bad cops are so rarely punished.

It can be the most cut and dry case of murder and the cops get off, typically with ZERO jail time or direct economic penalty.

Literally the same one of the US most well covered cases of police murder had this update . . .

  2. Update in the Tyre Nichols case, the cops who murdered him have now been acquitted.

Exhibit A for why don't I give a singular flying fuck when a cop allegedly becomes road kill.

FUCK THE POLICE & PISS ON THEIR GRAVES.

We shouldn't have to be talking about Tyre in the past tense. He should be still with us, with his mum and his family, going about his life.

And letting them off with it? Its just state-sanctioned murder. I CANNOT imagine the void left behind in his family or, the unnecessary pain they must now carry with them

BREAKING: 3 former Memphis officers not guilty in death of Tyre Nichols

    npr.org/2025/05/07/nx-s1-53884

Deeply angering and heartbreaking story. “They could not let go of this suspect,”reminds me of a really fcked up thing I was taught in childhood - that officers can shoot a person running from them.
A major lawsuit against the City of Memphis is pending, but god.

Rest in empowered peace, Tyre. We continue our fight.

  5. @Jaden3 fellow white people disgust me and degrade us all with their racism
It's on us White folk to call out this foulness, or is this how we want to live, what we want to raise our kids to believe..a toxic ideology of White Nationalism and Patriarchy?😡

  12. CW: Content warning: Tyre Nichols case

In the U.S., three police officers are convicted in the Tyre Nichols fatal beating, while two of them are acquitted of civil rights charges.

CNN reports: "Five officers were charged in Nichols’ death, but two pleaded guilty and testified against members of their old crime suppression unit, eliminating any defense strategy that would have relied on them sticking together. Jurors repeatedly watched graphic clips from police video that showed the officers punch and kick Nichols and hit him with a police baton just steps from his home, as the 29-year-old called out for his mother."

  13. 3 Former Officers Found Guilty of Cover-Up in Tyre Nichols’s Death

The former officers were acquitted of the most serious charge in the case — violating Mr. Nichols’s #CivilRights by causing his death.

By Emily Cochrane and Ben Stanley
    Reporting from Memphis.
    Oct. 3, 2024

"Three former Memphis police officers were found guilty on Thursday of federal witness tampering charges in the violent beating of Tyre Nichols, a 29-year-old Black man who died three days after his encounter with the police.
But all of the officers were acquitted of the most serious charge in the case — violating Mr. Nichols’s civil rights by causing his death. One officer, Demetrius Haley, was convicted on a lesser charge of violating Mr. Nichols’s civil rights by causing bodily injury.

"The mixed verdict in the federal trial in Memphis comes nearly two years after Mr. Nichols’s death, which sickened many across the nation, who viewed it as the latest example of a young Black man being subjected to #ExcessiveForce at the hands of the #police.

"Video of the January 2023 encounter showed that after Mr. Nichols fled a #TrafficStop, officers viciously punched and kicked him, ignoring his cries for his mother and his attempts to comply with a barrage of conflicting commands. None of the officers reported the extent of the beating.

"The three defendants, along with two other former officers who pleaded guilty to their role in the violence, still face additional state charges, including second-degree murder.

"Sentencing on the federal convictions is expected to occur in January.

"'You know what these officers did and know it because you saw it over and over again,' said Kathryn Gilbert, a Justice Department lawyer, in closing statements. 'You can use your eyes. You can use your ears. You can use your common sense. You know what these officers did.'

"The trial, which lasted about 17 days, exposed a culture of #secrecy and #violence within the #MemphisPolice Department, where officers held to an unspoken agreement that they could punish anyone who fled from them and downplay the violence. The five officers — all of whom are Black — were part of a team within the specialized Scorpion street crime unit, where arrest statistics and confiscations were a priority."
