In Winona, Minnesota there is a very good doughnut shop spelled "Bloedoes".
It rhymes with "Play-doh's".
Does that spelling look like it would sound anything like that?!
It sure doesn't to me.
Doughnuts 🍩 are really good, first place we found with the proper yeast doughnuts we prefer over cake doughnuts.
As we're from North Alabama, their glazed plain are the closest we've found to Krispy Kreme in this Driftless area.

First time I've ever seen prices on Doritos Cool Ranch chips go down instead of up. Enough so that it was noticeable. So I bought some. Maybe I can make it into more than a single serving bag.
I love these chips. Hate ranch dressing or flavor on anything else.

Bicycled 3.5 K in town because snow still blocking trails and ice on the side streets still too dangerous.
Clear last evening, more than 12cm of snow fell last night.

Cashier at Aroma Pies in Whalan, Minnesota along the Root River Trail told us this is the last weekend for 2025. Too bad since this week is supposed to be warmer. So glad I've been able to enjoy it this Summer. It was the first place I intentionally bicycled to from Rushford in November 2024 only to learn about "Closed for the Season" applied to more than local bicycle shops.

Welp, that proved me wrong.
I've been wanting to try "Aroma Pies" in Whalan, Minnesota since November. There was no way it could live up to the hype. Wrong.
It was so good.
Most bicyclists I've ever seen on the Root River Trail there.
Leaving Houston, Minnesota yesterday and tent camping opened at 2pm and by 2:30 7 spots were claimed out of 10 already.
Seasonal tourism isn't something I'd ever experienced myself before. Spouse had in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Cooked for 20 minutes.
The center had a soft crumble, the edges mostly syrupy butter.
So spouse thought it was just the extra stick of 🧈 butter (It's 1 stick, not a Cup. Oops.) until I described the wildly out of order steps above.
Correct order: Melt 1 stick of butter in a pan at 350 F. Mix 1 Cup flour and 1 Cup sugar together in a bowl. Add 1 Cup of milk. Pour this butter over the melted butter. Add fruit on top. 40 minutes.

New York Style has the best crust.
Chicago has the best fillings.
But if you put Chicago fillings on a New York crust, it doesn't work very well.
The closest to best both crust and fillings combined is Detroit style.
All depends on your personal preference.
