[edited for typos]President #Macron ‘s speech to the #UN was directed at this hypocracy, he not only talked about *not giving in* (to the bullying from the #US, #Russia and #China though no naming them specifically) but also said that some members having it both ways threw a pall of shame ( *honte* ) over the Assembly. And while he didn’t name the countries invovled in cynical pragmatism they were not hard to identify. I think that #Australian West Asia policy is a shameful example of **having it both way**. It casts every Australian as a **two faced** American puppet and Australia as an unreliable ally.
Rather than towing the US line of dismantling the #WorldOrder symbolized by the #ICC and the UN Convention like the #US and now #Australia, Macron called for a reenvigoration of current international institutions and further multilateral agreements to shore up the #RuleOfInternationalLaw (A direct swipe at the US here).
I am ashamed of the optics our #Leadership is cultivating overseas, precisely because it is #TwoFaced. Just as it is domestically with respect to our #Environment and to #ClimateChange.
