Between advertisements and shitty propaganda post I don’t want to see I really find some posts from people I like to see. What a shit show! 💩
I really think about continuing with my weekly posts to engage people to move to the #Fediverse.

Very proud of me using #Twitter almost only once a week via web browser checking for messages. Removed the apps from all my devices. 😎

What a relief! I finally convinced my higher-ups to stop advertising on that dead-bird/Xitter site, so now I won't even have to provide "views" or whatever for their metrics while I check through our numbers anymore.
I am finally 100% #Elno-free in my personal AND professional life.
...I think I still need a shower though.

Each time I need to go get information on Twitter, I realise how much the Fedi is much saner. Twitter swarms with fascists. I don't know how people still on Twitter can support it, they are attacked on each of their tweets.

À chaque fois, que je dois aller chercher une info sur Twitter, je me rends compte à quel point le Fedi est tellement plus sain. Twitter est complétement parasité par les fafs. Je ne sais pas comment les gens encore sur Twitter font pour supporter, ils se font attaqué par les fafs à chacun de leur tweet.

I'm still on Twitter to catch on news on the Russian invasion of Ukraine and interact with some friends in a fantasy golf league. My main activity has been blocking Ads, at least a dozen or two per day.
Seems like that was a popular pastime and Musk has responded. He's a genius at destroying a social media community...#TwitterSucks #SpaceKaren

I've seen a few people panicking about #Threads (for those who aren't aware, Threads is Facebook/Meta's new Twitter copycat, which happens to use the ActivityPub protocols that let it connect to the #fediverse), but frankly, I think the worry is a little overblown because the fediverse is, just by its sheer technical nature, hostile to any kind of corporate ecosystem taking over.
The way I see it, there are really two possibilities:
A) Threads takes off really quickly, gains a lot of users, people flock to it, but people who don't want a Facebook-owned social media app in their lives just kinda stay away from it, so nothing on #Mastodon really changes.
B) Threads crashes and burns, no one uses it, people go back to searching for whatever other microblog-du-jour is in vogue at the time, and... nothing on Mastodon really changes.Zuck is setting up Threads as a competitor to #Twitter, not Mastodon. The worst they can really do is try to take over the architecture behind Mastodon (TootSuite, etc.), and even if they succeed in that, they can't really affect the overall health of the fediverse much.
The biggest concern I've seen is "Zuck will make it so you can't see stuff from Threads unless you sign up for Threads yourself." And that would make about as much sense as Google saying "if a Gmail user sends you an email, you can only open their email if you sign up for Gmail" (which is to say, it would make no sense at all).
The fediverse will destroy itself with petty infighting long before a big corporation (whose takeover the fediverse is explicitly designed to resist) destroys it.

Deleted (or "deactivated" as Twitter calls it) my account on Twitter a month ago or so.
Then received an email from Twatter (yes intentional) about them turning off the two-factor authentication for my account, which is fine since I'm getting the f* outta there.
BUT. Yes, there's a but...
As the deactivation process -according to their instructions online -takes 30 days, that means my account would be left vulnerable for those 30 days.
So decided to leave my account there for security reasons. Not posting anything or being active there no longer. Afterwards heard many ppl did the same thing by leaving their Twitter account there but just as a placeholder to avoid any account misuse.
So I guess there are probably many accounts left, not actively being used but staying on the platform for security reasons. And this ofc fabricates the number of Twitter accounts since WE CANNOT DELETE OUR TWITTER ACCOUNTS SECURELY! 🤯😠
