@noelreports I do find Mastodon is a precious News & Info platform in a world where traditional News outlets are still slow to get fast paced stories out,& when they do, detail is omitted for brevity #TwitterExile. In Irish media there is little attention paid to the larger #MIL picture in #Ukraine & will report mostly on individual attacks. I am a person who is more in Receive rather than Transmit mode but I do get the importance here of boosting posts in absence of algorithms.

CW: Twitter + Tweets + Digital Gardens
With Twitter taking even more negative turns, I've become more determined to close my account there.
But, I have Tweets of mine I would like to preserve, and thought I could rewrite them (thankfully, I don't have too many) and place them in a #DigitalGarden of sorts.
It wouldn't abide by the usual terms of a Digital Garden (https://nesslabs.com/digital-garden-set-up), but the idea of having short bursts of text interlinked together might create a nice place to collect my thoughts on being #ActuallyAutistic and learning more about myself.
Curious what other people closing their Twitter accounts are thinking about doing with their Tweets?

10 #tips for #twitter users who've just joined Mastodon:
1) Calling yourself a Twitter refugee is in extremely poor taste. You left a website. Actual refugees wish they had it as bad as you. Go for #TwitterExile instead.
2) You'll be expected to make a post in a few days talking about how calm you find it here. Go ahead and get it out of the way now. It's a long-held tradition and it doesn't have to be true.
3) Pay the cat/dog/fish/snake/sheep/horse/other animal tax. Ideally you'll pay it in your introduction toot, because then lots of people will boost you and you'll gain the clout you're so desperately chasing.
4) Clout is still a thing here but we've all agreed to pretend that it isn't. By signing up for Mastodon, you've agreed to this too.
5) Turn on Slow Mode in your settings. Seriously. Remember how much you used to hate it when Twitter would refresh in the middle of you reading a tweet and you'd lose it forever? Slow Mode fixes that. I mean, you could have fixed it with Twitter settings too and you didn't, so...
6) #Hashtags are the only way to search here. Therefore, you will always forget to use them.
7) The server you selected as part of joining Mastodon will be the wrong server. Figure that out as soon as possible because you can't move your toots from server to server. You should probably change instances at least twice before you toot anything.
8) There is no QT here. You will find yourself wanting to dunk on things and being unable to do so. Sit back and let it wash over you. Soon, the only thing you'll miss about QT is being able to retweet something and add "👇👇👇THIS👇👇👇." What were you thinking? That doesn't add anything of value. You'll still miss it.
9)Mastodon is not the fediverse. The fediverse is vast and tractless like the sea. There are probably monsters living in it somewhere. All you need to know is that Mastodon is not the fediverse. That will be on the test.
10) In a few days it's customary to start acting like you're a Mastodon expert who's been here since the Dark Ages and to give advice to newcomers. Make it in the form of a list. Don't reveal that you just joined last month and you have no idea what you're talking about.

@LauraKT I was booted off twatter in 2020 with 21k followers for daring to quote BJ's "**** in a ditch" at someone. I appealed to the UK boss of Twitter on linkedin telling him that it was meant as joke and he replied it was a matter of opinion, I had previously caused him grief when I reported Hatie Kopkins to Twitter for hate speech and tagged Twitter Safety US, Trump's was retweeting her hate speech. #TwitterExile

It still remains but is starting to lose its red neck.

So, here's a thing. If you're a #newbie who's part of the #TwitterMigration and you want to find your friends, a natural thing to do is to look at other people's #follower lists.
It's not obvious, but if you're on the #android app, the lists on someone's profile only show you the people who are on your own server. In some cases, that's none.
But if you click on the menu at the top right of the profile and select 'open in browser', you can get to the full list.
