I've heard this bird before but have no idea what it is as I haven't managed to see it. Can anyone identify it for me, please? There are other noises in the video, but it's the bird Im looking to identify. It is definitely a bird, by the way, as it has flitted from one side of the path to the other. #fediverse #mastodon #Twitchers

I went back to check on the baby bird. It has gone, so presumably it is OK.

Can anyone identify this bird? I suspect it is quite young. It was chirping away for quite some time in this spot without flying away. It seemed quite discombobulated (another way of spelling confused :-).

Just saw a pair of turtle doves in the garden. Are they common now in Ireland? No colouring on wings, but light grey, with a partial black collar, very tame looking. Moved on now.

Edit: the reply is that red means rare and orange means not usual at this time of year.

Does anyone who uses Merlin app know what those symbols next to the Cedar Waxwing and the Gray Catbird mean? One is a red circle, one is orange with a white half circle inside. I can't find a legend.

Why are #twitchers / #birdwatchers (unsure of precise taxonomy) so grumpy?

We see them from time to time on our path, weighed down with military grade optics. When greeted with a cheerful 'hi!' and a smile we get a frown, or get blanked entirely.

I'm no expert, but I'm fairly sure that I've just seen a Snowy Egret, in Dunadry, Northern Ireland. It shouldn't be here! The pictures aren't great, but maybe someone will be able make a proper identification.
