I've seen lots of turkeys in #stpaul but mostly around Summit Hill a few blocks from Dale and Selby. They've moved closer to us, now -- this at Saint Clair and Cretin.
Personally, I would take more turkeys for fewer rabbits. The rabbit population around here is just bonkers. When I do my morning walks, most yards will have one to three rabbits just sitting there. You see them all day, too.
Writing that, it makes me think we could use some urban foxes. Years back there was a family of foxes whose den was literally under the State Capitol in Madison -- foxes can and do live in urban areas....which makes me wonder: why don't you see more of them? It seems like basic predator-prey population dynamics. Think of the classic Lotke-Volterra model. A few foxes could make their way into the urban area here, feast like kings, and reproduce like...er...rabbits.

Największy dom opieki w aglomeracji Twin Cities zorganizował obowiązkowe spotkania dla całego personelu, grożąc zwolnieniem pracownikom, którzy w nich wezmą udział, jednak te taktyki zastraszania nie przyniosły skutku i placówka stanęła w obliczu masowej nieobecności pracowników. Łączna liczba mieszkańców Minneapolis i Saint Paul wynosi mniej niż 750 000; w ten piątek na ulice wyszło około 100 000 osób, mimo temperatur poniżej zera. Można śmiało stwierdzić, że co najmniej jeden na ośmiu mieszkańców Twin Cities wziął udział w strajku generalnym."

Very interesting idea for I-94 in the Twin Cities: make it into a subway!
As someone who lives in between the downtowns, this would be awesome. Covering the I-94 trench would fill in and connect the "south of the interstate" and "north of the interstate" neighborhoods, making it easier to get around this area, and with a stop on Snelling, would make it easy for us to get to either downtown very fast.
It does seem like this is a hopeless dream; I really don't see MnDOT taking this seriously -- but lots of ideas like this seem impossible until they aren't. And the reasoning seems sound: you want underground rail via cut-and-cover -- and we already have the "cut", which makes it cheaper.
I'm not so sure about the article's claim of 16 minutes from downtown to downtown -- that's an average speed around 40 miles per hour, which seems ambitious if you stop, say, twice. But even at 20-25 minutes, that would be nice.
