As a Roleplayer of a Certain Age, I've seen DOZENS of lists of personality traits, simple aids/prompts for rounding out NPCs.
The original #Twilight2000 ref's guide devotes a page to such a list, tied to a two-card draw for those in the mood to randomize, and it's just. SO. themed.
Like, it's not about the range of human natures in any neutral way; it's VERY much character traits for a post-nuke hellscape. 😅
It makes me happy. I've got no USE for it, but it makes me happy.

What kind of music would soldiers in Twilight 2000 blast in their beat up APC while crossing the nuclear wasteland?
Spice Girls? Take That? 😆 🎶

I was looking through some modern and sci-fi rpgs, and I found it interesting that most simplify guns into pistol, rifle, automatic pistol, automatic rifle. Why go into any more detail than that?
But I was curious if a game did go into all the variations of guns out there. Look no further than Twilight 2000 Infantry Weapons of the World.
So how does it differentiate between M1933 Tokarev pistol and a Mauser HSc? Mostly just ancillary things like, ammo used, price, weight.

Can we have a Twilight 2000 mod for Arma?
That sounds like something that could be quite cool. 🤔

I've started reading the rules for #Twilight2000 4e in the lead-up to my mini-campaign I'll be recording for my YT channel. It's looks good, but I may need to tweak a couple of things. Excited to do a small departure from fantasy all the time. A little variety is good #TTRPG

I'm going live on the Tube of You Friday morning at 9:30am (Brisbane, Australia time), which I believe is Thursday evening time in the USA. youtube.com/live/CSxiKfNm6…
I will be talking new zines, new campaigns, #DnD, and even army men and #Twilight2000. #DungeonsAndDragons #TTRPG
-
I bought some cheap army men the other day. I will be using them for a #SoloRPG #Twilight2000 campaign, which I'll be running soon. I think I will use 4th ed until I get used to everything. #TTRPG

Fantastic and most recent Diceology podcast with Mad Jay and Judd K. I've come to know of them from their Twitch 'Actual Play' channel. All great #indiettrpg variety of plays and notes.
Trying to recall they covered :
-wanting to play an #arsmagica and #traveler Variant.
-trying to get games to the table
- a Jason Morningstar inspired premise for #Twilight2000 multisession one shot
-Judd's highlights of, iirc, Ioun City fantasy campagn
-and more.

Shockingly, an EASY RPG A DAY prompt this time. What's a game with great character gear? I really wanted to go with some science fiction, but in the end, I had to go with my gut and with some of the best illustrations in the field.

@myxomycetes The new edition of Twilight 2000 (https://freeleaguepublishing.com/shop/twilight-2000/core-set/) from Free League is absolutely stunning and crunchy enough to satisfy the military geeks in your group, no doubt.
While it's not particularly big on supernatural horror, it certainly has all the tools to make the horror real. More grounded horror seems to just happen naturally, as your squad of remnants after the fallen world try and live a hardscrabble existence doing the best they can and maybe pull something together.
If you really wanted "military" in your military science fiction, this is the way. It's very near future and might not be out there enough, but we have solutions for that too.

@drevrpg
Wouldn't fit with the game I'm currently arranging to run. But inspired the idea:BETA WORLD
[Your favorite edition of Gamma World, but nearer future and a little lower tech. Or maybe Twilight 2000, but slightly odder.]
The Ancients didn't invent miraculous technology and destroy themselves in nuclear fire. They just improved a bit during the 21st century before things started to more gradually crumble. A sort of "rustpocalypse".

It's practically required reading for anyone running at #Twilight2000 campaign.

Got an email announcing that new versions of The Black Madonna adventure and Pirates of the Vistula (renamed Hostile Waters) are available for the latest version of Twilight 2000.

@peterdrake I have been thinking about this for a while now, and I believe I finally have an answer that I'm satisfied with: Twilight 2000.
I know, you're confused. You're wondering why a game like T2K would even remotely be considered #solarpunk. It's very simple.
In T2K, you as protagonist characters have the opportunity to make a better future from a collapsed and fallen one. The pieces are all around you to do so.
But also, unlike most solarpunk games, there is no predefined definition of what "better" actually means. You are free to decide for yourself and given your situation what better is.
Not only that, you are free to decide what mechanisms you bring to bear in order to make that better world come about. Some threats won't be amenable to a simple conversation and a small meal.
Some threats you have to have heavy artillery and a couple of flanking infantry units to deal with. Not everybody will be on board with your idea of the perfect solarpunk future.
You want to build an outpost of civilization amidst the fallen ruins of the old, the latest edition has all the tools you need to make that happen. But it also includes all of the mechanics that tell you why it's very, very hard. And will always be a struggle.

Reorganized the game shelves today to make room for new books, including my #TalesOfTheValiant books and new books for #ForbiddenLands, #MutantYearZero, and #Twilight2000.

Second delivery of the day. Merry Christmas to me from me!
-
There's a new #BundleOfHolding up for Free League's Year Zero engine RPGs - it includes #Coriolis, #ForbiddenLands, #MutantZero, and #Twilight2000 but also the very well-regarded #Vaesen and the new #Dragonbane.
All solid games and I still adore the style of Coriolis, even if I haven't managed to get it to the table.
Great way to grab a gaggle of games for cheap.

I'm currently noodling over a #Twilight2000 (4e) scenario set in southern Pomerania after Operation Reset.
-
I've finally sat down and started really reading my copy of Twilight 2000 (4e) by Free League, and I'm really digging it. It's crunchier than most games I'm into these days, but also kind of not due to the way that the mechanics are designed.
-
The zombies act as an abstract enough threat, an environmental threat, that pressure applied to the characters forces them to become crystalline, to distill out who and what they are in every given situation.
On top of that, you can layer it with other modern/postmodern games of compatible theme, like #Twilight2000 or #DeltaGreen, or #Aliens for a sci-fi twist. All within the same style of mechanic.
-
@LeviKornelsen mostly 5e #DnD and its variants (LevelUp, Tales of the Valiant, etc).
I would absolutely love to see some #Twilight2000 and #FlamesOfFreeom chatter

57) And GDW continued with its attempts to reinvent itself, creating an inhouse games system that would be the forestay of all its games for the next few years. Twilight 2000 had been released in 1984 but it was with the release of the 2nd edition that I bought it.
A much slicker version of the game which sparked a whole range of new games using this new GDW system.

Got myself a #ttrpg present today.
#twilight2000 does not require an introduction. This new edition by Free League is something I wanted to buy for a while.
Broken Compass is an award winning wonder of a game, refreshing to ready and I can't way to play it.
A better review to come soon

@leeleedee I'm not very experienced with solo-playing, but I do run a Twilight 2000-solocampaign at the moment. I run a party of five, and created relations between the characters using the rules in Solo by Zozer Games. I use those relations to interpret the individual characters' choice of actions. Their relations are also a factor in how I interpret random events that might trigger latent conflicts. But intra-party relations is not the focus of the campaign.
