It's surprising how much the two cages containing this year's #leaves have begun to drop. Over a foot in a week! Must mean we're heading for a good load of #compost

Because of the recently passed #Storm #Bert, a lot of #trees and #hedges have shed #branches and #twigs, which can be more than just a mere nuisance. In the past, they have caused #punctures and have even jammed in the #spokes causing #skidding #hazards. Luckily, no problems today.

Where did I drop the medium sized #spider? I spotted an arachnid in the middle of the floor. Went to get my jar & cardboard ('customised' trap ready for #autumn). Of course when I got back a few seconds later it was gone. Found it👍 Trapped it. Carefully carried it outside to a #raisedbed with lots of #twigs etc.
Went to release it & there is was gone🤔. I don't think it went up my sleeve as I would've felt it😱. No idea where it is now.😂

I save/collect broken #tree #twigs & #branches & logs & #deadwood in old garbage bins. I use them for #Hügelkultur purposes. #German word meaning #MoundCulture or #HillCulture . This is a practice that has existed both in German & #EasternEurope societies for hundreds of years. The concept was further developed by #SeppHolzer - an expert in permaculture, in his book Sepp Holzer’s Permaculture: A Practical Guide to Small-Scale, Integrative Farming, and Gardening.

I think #trees in #spring look wonderful. From a distance, the process of #budding makes the #twigs and #branches look denser although they haven’t quite a green tinge to them yet. They look like they’re about to burst back into life.
