#tursiopstruncatus — Public Fediverse posts

I didn’t originally aspire to review the baby dolphin included in Toymany’s Small Sea Animals Playset but having just reviewed a bottlenose dolphin last week it seemed like an appropriate time to take a look at this one.

Female common bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) reach maturity between the ages of 5-13 years while males mature at 8-14 years of age. Gestation lasts about a year, […]

The common bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) is among the most popular and familiar of cetaceans, second maybe only to the killer whale. As such, there is a huge abundance of toys and figurines representing it. For this reason I have long dragged my feet on adding this species to my collection but having spent a childhood watching Flipper reruns and playing the Ecco the Dolphin video […]

Before I start my review I would again like to thank our friends at Toymany for providing this review sample for the Blog. I have really enjoyed being a Toymany collaborator for the past two years!

Marine animals include some of the most popular animals in our hobby, from sharks, to whales and dolphins, to sea turtles. It’s no wonder that many of the more well-known companies have lines and […]

Whales and Dolphins (Marine Animals by Panini), Part 1

So after spending so long on a single company, reviewing in-depth every figure by Replica Toy Fish…why not work on a (nearly) entire series from a different company!? This time, I’m going to work through the marine figures produced by Italian company Panini. I will be approaching it differently–the figures are very small, and very stylized, so a relatively brief overview will be more […]

Bottlenose Dolphin (Sealife by CollectA)

Review and images by Sam; edited by bmathison1972

The bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) is arguably the most iconic marine mammal. Known for their playful, friendly personalities and their amazing intelligence, they have appeared in many TV shows and movies, and are a popular attraction at aquariums and marine parks, so it is no surprise that there are quite a few toys based on them, […]

Today I am reviewing a set of four animals I originally bought for just one of the figures. The set, which was being sold on eBay, was alerted to me on the ATF by forum member NSD Bashe. The set is called Fish Assortment 2 and it is one of four components of a larger collection that’s part of the Wonder World line by Kenner, a subsidiary of Hasbro at the time it was released (1995). The four […]

Seeing a very distant dolphin today put a big smile on my face #FunFactFriday The Bottlenose dolphins around the UK are big, heavy characters, much larger, darker and heavier than their warmer water cousins. #DolphinsOfMastodon #BottlenoseDolphin #dolphin #TursiopsTruncatus
