    Evening of Friday, September 19, 2025 Governor Newsom issued an emergency proclamation for Calaveras and Tuolumne Counties to assist in recovery from the recent TCU Lightning Complex Fires that burned over 13,000 acres and destroyed or damaged over 100 structures and homes, including 50 homes in the historic town of Chinese Camp. The emergency proclamation authorizes the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) to provide assistance to Calaveras and Tuolumne counties under the California Disaster Assistance Act, among other provisions.     Tornado Warning issued March 17 at 3:23PM PDT until March 17 at 3:30PM PDT by NWS Hanford CA


    At 322 PM PDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
    was located near La Grange, or 18 miles north of Atwater, moving east
    at 15 mph.

    HAZARD...Tornado.

    SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

    IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
    shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage
    to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is
    likely.

    This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of
    western Mariposa, southwestern Tuolumne and north central Merced
    Counties.


    Instructions
    TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
    floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
    mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter
    and protect yourself from flying debris.

  3. No pre-existing high-res imaging available of that area. Lots of trees... which makes it less likely to detect. Large search area, so $$$ to acquire that in high resolution. Wonder how he lost his backpack so quickly, if you are in a "lost in the wilderness" situation you're going to want to keep your backpack/belongings for survival.
