It took less time to make this much than to draw the chart. It goes fast when you only have a little bit of yarn. A 5 mm hook with lace weight yarn also helps.
I'm half way through the yarn and at 53 cm in length. I'd like to make the whole chart, so I'm just spinning more, hoping the second dye job will be close to the first.
I'm out of BFL, but I have some Falkland that has a similar fiber thickness and length, so I'm hoping it won't be too obvious.

Sometimes the beauty of a lace pattern can be obscured by the fluffiness of the yarn itself.
In this case, the little project on my Tunisian crochet hook is made up of 3 rows that create a lovely lace pattern only when you look through it. Looking at it, you can't even tell how thick the yarn is.
This project is made on an 8 mm hook and that feels just right for the yarn. #tunisianCrochet #lace

Good Morning. Beige Blessings be upon you
Yesterday I had hoped to get my essay plan done, unfortunately my body needed more rest than that and I didn't get anything done, because I rested.
So today I want to have a look at my essay and at least start pulling some ideas together. I will start by going over the notes I made at my tutorial last week and go from there.
I will try to take Tiny Dog for a walk again, and eat a nutritious lunch.
I am hoping to play some games and do some crochet. I want to finish my crochet blanket by mid June and then I have a Tunisian Crochet Elf Coat that I have been making for my nibling for 2 years now, that I would like to get finished for their birthday in October.I am really looking forward to finishing my studies so I can sit and crochet with an audiobook or podcast playing as that is my happy place!

Did I say that I can’t only have 1 active WIP?
Well this time I have a very good reason to start a new project; I need a cowl asap cause I have none and we've beet hit with -20/-30°C weather for the past 2 weeks. I'd like to keep my nose!
I'm doing tunisian smock stitch. Yarn is hand dyed superwash merino from Fibrelya (not sponsored)

I like to think I might be getting my crochet mojo back...
My eldest wants a new scarf and wanted it to have a brickwork pattern - let's see how long this ends up!
One day I'll get back to the fancy big triangle scarf that's been a WIP for several years now. Hopefully.

@crochet
I don't think I shared my latest tension square for my elf coat. I took the advice I got here and made a much bigger square so I could take a stitch count from the middle of the square. I even blocked it to get a proper idea of what it would look like when made.Thank you to the people who helped me. Longer blog post incoming.

Hi, I’m Ken, I’ve been on the Fediverse for a couple of weeks now. It seemed silly to introduce myself to nobody when I first started this instance, although I did fill in my bio. I’m a #writer from England who joined the Fediverse to publicise my work and maybe try to #getfedihired. I’m still feeling my way around the social aspects of this though, I don’t just want to use this as an advertising platform.
Looking back over my statuses for the first fortnight, so far I’ve mostly boosted things I found funny or beautiful. I replied to a few other posts including some responses to #SillyCuratorPrompts and #DesignChallenge – two drawings and a silly poem. And early on I posted another poem, largely to push past the anxiety I felt about the whole social media thing. The last thing I put up was some photos of spring flowers.
I already have a blog at https://kenhutton.uk or https://kenhutton.uk/atom for your rss/atom reader. You can find more information about my book ‘Social card games’ there if you’re interested and I plan to post some stories and poems there soon, perhaps some essays too. No promises about when though, as I’m job hunting right now and not putting pressure on myself to do too much else.

#TunisianCrochet update. Now switching to these laceweight yarns. The orange one is one I dyed myself! I need to do a proper writeup but a couple of years back i did a video of the process (uncaptioned, sorry 😔) https://www.instagram.com/tv/CFD-35RJt9_/?igshid=NTdlMDg3MTY= there are other local dyers (they even sell their stuff iirc) but I'm quite proud of this project because i was like, ok fine we don't do wool #dyeing & acid dyes but we have an extensive #textile industry, surely the more affordable dyes here could work too?? It's a bit challenging because #batik manufacturers have a different dyeing practice with their reactive dyes (so no emphasis to exhaust the dye bath for e.g.) and they tend to sell as repacks (so i don't have exact manufacturer details) but it worked out. Now i have to spin enough plain yarn for the next dyeing project... 😅

The most challenging thing with #TunisianCrochet for me is how I'm holding the hook as the stitches grow. I need to take active breaks. It means I'm much slower with this compared to #crochet and #knitting but as a personal compromise to weaving, it does look good. Even if i made a booboo with the honeycomb stitch count (the beginning rows), but it's my own pattern so I decided to 'reset' with a couple of Afghan stitch rows. And these are all my own yarn I spun wheeeee

My #introduction post: I'm #Autistic & was diagnosed with "hyperactivity" before #ADHD existed in the DSM. I self-diagnosed in my 20s, back in the early 2000s, but only got an official diagnosis (privately, as the NHS in my area was useless for AFAB adults) in January 2020. In addition, I'm #dyspraxic and #dyscalculic too.
I'm #disabled and #ChronicallyIll - my main diagnoses are #PoTs , #CentralSleepApnea , #Endometriosis , #InterstitialCystitis and #HidradenitisSuppurativa (among others).
As well as being #ActuallyAutistic , I'm an #atheist , a #humanist and #demisexual , #bisexual and #nonbinary .
I love the #Marvel character #TheWinterSoldier and the actor Sebastian Stan, #Rats , #knitting , #crochet , #tunisiancrochet, #writing and anything #medicine or #scientific . #Learning is definitely a #spin (and clearly I love hashtags too 😂).
If I say something that seems off, please just ask me to clarify. I always try to say exactly what I mean, but that doesn't always translate in reality.
