I love coming up with new ways of doing things, using skills from other fields. I think it's called lateral thinking. Been doing it my whole life. Anyway.

A couple of days ago I decided to try a provisional cast on for Tunisian crochet because the starting chain just gets in the way sometimes. I've done it while knitting plenty of times, should be the same, right? Not quite, but close.

About a year ago I was in Nuremberg and I got a couple of balls of Lana Grossa Gigante Multi and when I came home I made this lovely fluffy scarf.

I've been wearing this on the coldest, windiest winter evenings out and it has kept me toasty warm.

The pattern for making this is free on my blog and you can also use it to make other trendier designs, like stripes in two neutral yarns.

It's officially fall, so that means it's time to make leaf decorations for around the house.

I just got a comment on the video tutorial for this leaf that someone had tried Tunisian crochet for the first time while making this and they were successful, and that fills my heart with joy.

So after knooking (lol) up a new scarf for my youngest, I've pulled out an old project which is just an excuse to sit and crochet without trying to decide what to make or pay attention to row counts or stitch types or increases and decreases.

A big, purposefully ugly blanket made of scraps and random cheap yarns. I hope it'll not just go entirely weird after the first (low temp!) wash.

The current widest dimension will be the short side, it's maybe just over a third done.

It's time for fall fits! Well, just a little accessory to keep the wind and the rain out. I like to wear my Tunisian crochet cowls to spice up my boring outfits.

They are small projects in which you can play with new techniques, like this special mosaic that uses diagonal stitches.

This one is going at a more contemplative pace than some of my wackier #TunisianCrochet afghans, but I'm quite enjoying how it's taking shape. Adding some cross-stitch elements has been kind of fun, too! #Crochet

Sleeve detail. This is at the underside of the sleeve, so it will rarely be seen, but I love how the mosaic looks mirrored like that.

It's one of the little details that makes this upcoming pattern special. For each size I made sure the mosaic is mirrored perfectly both in the body and sleeves.

Do you notice anything special about the mosaic pattern?

Can’t concentrate so I learned Tunisian crochet (https://youtu.be/ZbMDz4egpVU), which is a technique that produces fabrics with square (1:1) stitches. The obvious thing for me to do is to make small 8×8 squares (with margins) and embroider them with tiny pixel art. (From what I saw embroidery looks better than changing colours, and it’s also easier). Searching "8x8" on r/PixelArt yielded some results, including these masterpieces by @johanvinet that manage to compress a mind-boggling amount of recognisability into 64 pixels with 16 colours:

It took less time to make this much than to draw the chart. It goes fast when you only have a little bit of yarn. A 5 mm hook with lace weight yarn also helps.

I'm half way through the yarn and at 53 cm in length. I'd like to make the whole chart, so I'm just spinning more, hoping the second dye job will be close to the first.

I'm out of BFL, but I have some Falkland that has a similar fiber thickness and length, so I'm hoping it won't be too obvious.

Hey says adhd brain. How about we make a Tunisian crochet slipper or sock. Autism brain say “whauuu, I love this this idea. If we do this and find the perfect pattern, we can make it into a pattern we can sell online and maybe support ourselves economically.” Autism brain goes crazy and make a pattern. Audhd brain is kinda already checked out because it’s gardening season. Adhd brain and autism brain is like. “WTF, all this and now?”

Sometimes the beauty of a lace pattern can be obscured by the fluffiness of the yarn itself.

In this case, the little project on my Tunisian crochet hook is made up of 3 rows that create a lovely lace pattern only when you look through it. Looking at it, you can't even tell how thick the yarn is.

This project is made on an 8 mm hook and that feels just right for the yarn. #tunisianCrochet #lace

Good Morning. Beige Blessings be upon you

Yesterday I had hoped to get my essay plan done, unfortunately my body needed more rest than that and I didn't get anything done, because I rested.

So today I want to have a look at my essay and at least start pulling some ideas together. I will start by going over the notes I made at my tutorial last week and go from there.

I will try to take Tiny Dog for a walk again, and eat a nutritious lunch.
I am hoping to play some games and do some crochet. I want to finish my crochet blanket by mid June and then I have a Tunisian Crochet Elf Coat that I have been making for my nibling for 2 years now, that I would like to get finished for their birthday in October.

I am really looking forward to finishing my studies so I can sit and crochet with an audiobook or podcast playing as that is my happy place!

Progress on the lap blanket done wit Tunisian crochet.
Now the concept is kind of clear. A few different colors involved (plan is to pick them so any strip does not touch a part of the same color as the one in progress.
All stripes are the same pattern, but I vary the width of them between 12 and 22 stitches.
It is a play on a 10-stitch blanket where I attach the new strips as I go (the technique for that is usually referred as Tunisian crochet entrelac)

Man tydeligt se hvor den er samlet mellem strik og tunesisk hækling men tror at vask og brug vil jævne det ud. Er okay tilfreds. Nu skal jeg bare strikke ryg og ærmer. Tror desværre ikke jeg har garn nok i samme farve så ryggen bliver nok multi farvet. Og det er os okay.
