  1. Good morning Mastodonians! I'm sitting in the back of a training room, helping run a Master Trainer program...that's training people to go back to their orgs to train others. We're down in an office building several counties away, part of our effort to make sure our trainings are accessible to all.

Still cold, but not as. Hints of a big melt coming...

How're all my friends & followers this morning?

  2. Yesterday I attended a tabletop sale in aid of #CSAR. Entered a guess the weight of the cake competition and won! We now have a cake to celebrate the #coronation at #TuesdayTraining.

  3. Last night’s #CSAR #TuesdayTraining was all about how we use rope work in recovery situations.

This is certainly one of the more somber training sessions we run, but does unfortunately reflect reality and some of a situations we are involved
    with.

We also discussed the support systems we have in place for the team if they experience or are affected by any situation we face on searches or
on training sessions - it’s good to talk.

  4. It was a cold evening with rain and sleet showers, but that didn’t stop our #TuesdayTraining

Last night we were out on exercise and given a scenario that a number of runners had failed to return to their cars - but with the added twist that
they were also diabetic and injured.

Factoring the scenario and also the weather, hasty searches were conducted over a number of routes around the park and our mispers were found, administered medical care and stretchered back to the ‘RV’.

  5. Tonight’s #TuesdayTraining session was all about how to work safely on steep ground.
Our volunteer casualty was located at the bottom of a hill, so the team had to use ropes to manoeuvre the stretcher down to them and safely recover them back up the hill (and then lower them back down the other side of the hill to the mule, where they were wheeled back to control).

A great session with some fantastic team work and communication (including a phenomenal amount of bad puns throughout!)

  6. This week’s #TuesdayTraining session was a thorough look at our stretcher handling and casualty management techniques.

We started off indoors with demos of how to safely and smoothly lift and lower a casualty (it’s important to have one voice - first to check if anyone is not ready, then giving the instruction ‘ready, brace, lift/lower’).

We then carried our casualties cross country through a snowy field and
woodland, and over gates and fences.

  7. Our first #CSAR #TuesdayTraining of 2023 was a good one and covered lots of different disciplines for
    the team.

The scenario: 3 separate missing people in Delamere Forest - the only information we had were they were walking the sandstone trail, had
separated and hadn’t returned back to their cars.

Oh, and they were wearing dark clothing (always helpful at night in the dark!!)
