  1. DiscogsDienstag: Gary Numan – The Skin Mechanic

Es sind einige seiner bekanntesten Lieder vertreten, „Cars“, „Down In The Park“, „Are ‚Friends‘ Electric?“ und „We Are Glass“.

Davon zeugen die Songs „Are ‚Friends‘ Electric?“ und „Down In The Park“ auf The Skin Mechanic.

"Are 'friends' electric?" - Tubeway Army

As good as this clip is, one might prefer the performance from two weeks ago, with the first verse shown in electrofade cutouts over a long shot of the stage.

  6. 𝗧𝘂𝗯𝗲𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗔𝗿𝗺𝘆 - 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘀 - 𝟭𝟵𝟳𝟵
    𝟰𝟲 𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗱𝗲́𝗷𝗮̀...

  7. You know the very beginning of Cars?

Before the actual melody and "drums" come in?

That sound when I was sitting on the toilet this morning.

Then I got off on some tangential first-puff thought re: #TubewayArmy

  9. I don't really have a list of "desert island discs," but if I could only have four bars of one song to take with me it'd probably the the first four bars of Are 'Friends' Electric?

  10. Song of the Day - No 485

TUBEWAY ARMY - ARE 'FRIENDS' ELECTRIC?

Released in 1979, this synth-driven track was Tubeway Army's breakthrough hit. It topped the UK charts and appeared on their iconic album 'Replicas'. Its haunting melody and dystopian lyrics helped pioneer the new wave sound.

  11. "Cars" is the first solo single by English musician #GaryNuman. It was released on 21 August 1979 and is from his debut studio album #ThePleasurePrinciple. The song reached the top of the charts in several countries, and is Numan's most successful single. The song was the first release credited solely to Gary Numan after he dropped the band name #TubewayArmy, under which he had released four singles and two LPs, including the number one UK hit "#AreFriendsElectric".

"Are 'Friends' Electric?" is a song by Tubeway Army, released in 1979. It's the most recognized track from their album "Replicas" and became a number one hit in the UK charts.

As Numan once said " I had a No 1 single with a song about a robot prostitute and no one knew.""

  13. #TechnoTuesday Another #Detroit classic! I was too young to hit the clubs, so my intro to #Techno came from late night radio DJs like #ElecrifyingMojo who had #Cybotron in perpetual rotation. IMHO Juan Atkins and Rick Davis were the rightful heirs of #TubewayArmy, maintaining and building upon the dystopian analog foundation that #GaryNuman had left behind. And for that we should be grateful! #Music #Electro #Retro ⚡ 🎹 🎶 👍 😁
