Wer mit #Android unterwegs ist und sinnvollerweise auf #Alphabet bzw. #Google verzichtet, findet bei F-Droid eine Auswahl an freien Apps für das #Fediverse.

Die folgende Übersicht erhebt keinen Anspruch auf Vollständigkeit. Sie beschränkt sich auf das offizielle #Repository von F-Droid. Weitere Optionen ergeben sich durch das Hinzufügen weiterer Repositories, etwa von @[email protected] (https://apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid/). Sortiert wurde die Aufstellung nach letzter Aktualisierung auf F-Droid (ggf. sind bereits neuere Versionen verfügbar, etwa bei NewPipe).

I've tried #NewPipe (and #Thorium / #P2Play / #Tubelab etc). It's a good #YouTube client. In my experience, it doesn't work well as a #Peertube client. Last time I checked it had no notifications, no comments, no favoriting, basically no interaction if you're watching a Peertube video. The apps suggested have all of this.

You're right about #Sepiasearch , although I'd also subscribe to #Peertube on Mastodon / the fedi.

Thanks @caos . I tried #NewPipe. It... kinda works, and would be my second choice after #Fedilab with a list. That said it's quite difficult to subscribe across more than one instance and as you point out there's no interaction (or push notifications). I tried #TubeLab and #Thorium, but both are dead now.

#Fedilab, while far from perfect at least lets me find, watch, subscribe, comment, like videos and get push notifications by #UnifiedPush. Discovery, dislike and #UX are still issues.

@ch0ccyra1n There's three dedicated clients that I know of, but they all seem abandoned, eg:

#Thorium (last updated April 2022)
#P2Play (Dec 2019)
#Tubelab (July 2022)

Right now I would recommend just using one of the more maintained #Mastodon clients that also supports #Peertube, like #Fedilab.

You could also try #NewPipe / #YaShlang.

I wish someone would take the code from Fedilab/Tusky, put a #YouTube like interface on it and maintain it!

@vlrny There is more than one, however in my experience, all of the dedicated #Peertube apps are very much unmaintained. *sad*. Back when they were maintained, I liked #TubeLab however it's maker, who also makes #Fedilab, said that they were incorporating it into Fedilab instead. Thankfully Fedliab is very much maintained, however the interface is far more geared to #Mastodon, rather than watching videos.

I really wish someone would keep working on a dedicated Peertube app!

You may want to take a look on #Fedilab / #Tubelab.

@fmmniell #NewPipe (https://f-droid.org/en/packages/org.schabi.newpipe/) supports #PeerTube instances, but IMHO the support is not ideal - you can add custom instances, but you can only select one at the time from the settings, so you won't have an "all-in-one" timeline. But I guess that's fine if you only follow 1-2 instances.

#TubeLab (https://f-droid.org/en/packages/app.fedilab.tubelab/) is more specific for PeerTube, but IMHO it's still a bit immature and it lacks some features that I consider fundamental (like the ability to open a video in an external player or cast it).

#TubeLab and #TubeAcad 1.15.0 are available on Google Play since today.

- TubeLab will avoid blank screens when the default instance is broken.
- TubeAcad now uses new academic instances.

Both versions also bring fixes.

#UntrackMe 1.30 (with Proxy-Tok support) will be available very soon (already published)

#Fedilab 3.0.6 with last fixes will be published soon on Fdroid and Google.

We will be less active for new releases in coming days (a small break).

Also TubeAcad for French will be updated, it will work with new instances.
