  5. @yaoifest I haven't fallen into the light novel rabbit hole just yet.

I know #Tsurune comes from a light novel and I loved the anime (both seasons), but not sure just reading text would do it for me 🤔 I might have to give it a go if I can find an official translation available.

  8. @karamergen It's a beautiful #anime

The second season is especially well animated.

This reminds me I should re-watch it soon ☺️

    #Tsurune

  9. @karamergen Oh, you're in for a treat! #Tsurune second season has even better animated scenes 💜

  10. @SophiaHoppia I should do that too, it's really good.

    Will they do more seasons?

  11. @tobleh Right!? The animation only gets better and better. #Tsurune second season has even better animated scenes 💜

Big fan of the whole thing.

I think the anime is very underappreciated I wish we could get more.

  12. Technically speaking, #Tsurune S2 is likely an anime that got the least amount of work by the end of 2019, if any at all. And if Kobayashi S2 isn't a good enough sign that #KyotoAnimation is back; #TsuruneS2 sure as shit must be the sign that #KyoAni has NOT gone anywhere.

Season 1 was a basic sports story - a team getting assembled, a dude struggling with the Yips, Kazemai being the underdog going into the prefectural tournament; pretty basic stuff, done pretty well.

Season 2 goes off and fleshes out everyone that we know; it then introduces new characters, and then fleshes them out too; and then goes off and gives us a REALLY amazing sports story. From showing us more of the team's struggles and victories, showing the beauty of archery (with Sae seemingly as a stand in for outsiders to archery), Nikaidou and Tsujimine's presence in this season being really well done and being a very interesting and intriguing third horse in Tsurune against the upstart Kazemai and Kirisaki juggernauts, Ryouhei and Shuu getting more development, the Sugawara twins turning from fleshed out characters people can empathize with instead of being the basic heels from S1, the entire saga between Nanao and Kacchan, the girls of Kazemai getting a chance to shine throughout the show, more additions to the story of Seiya and Minato, to the kyuudo matches being as hype as ever.

Genuinely, Tsurune S2 does SO MUCH right, that it beckons anyone who hasn't watched Tsurune yet to give it a chance! I swear, it is SO much more than just "Free, but Archery", and there's so much excitement waiting in store for you.

  15. I finished watching all of #Tsurune (well, what's out so far), and I forgot that I didn't post my thoughts on the first season here yet! Here's a copy and paste!

Season 1 of Tsurune has kind of a basic story. Minato struggling with target panic (a form of Yips in archery), his old friend Shuu who has seemingly has moved on without him in Kirisaki, having his hopes and passion re-ignited with the enchanting Masaki, and going on to try and help bring success to the underdog Kazemai archery team. Pretty basic, right?

It is, but it's also REALLY well done thanks to Kyoto Animation's penchant for being able to get you engaged with all of the characters, along with production quality and pipeline that is rivaled only by a few. And I was engaged with this season the whole way through, with me being hyped up for each and every round of archery.

  16. @ljaesch Very nice, there isn't much info in the original source. I assume this is new content, right?

  17. @gallifreygal Heck yeah this second season gets even better 💜 It's such a wholesome anime, so well animated too.

  18. Rewatching the first season of #Tsurune to ready myself to watch the new second season and I'd forgotten how much of a great comfort watch it is. A sports #anime but with an entirely different vibe than many others I loved.

Japanese archery is steeped in ritual and tradition. I love how methodical it all is. It lacks the frenetic back and forth inherent in team sports like soccer and volleyball. It's just an archer, their bow and arrows, and a target. Beauty in simplicity.

  19. 🆕 Anime Review

    Tsurune (Season 2): even better

@tryslora Indeed, would love to see that in the finale.

Is there any news or rumors of a 3rd season? I need more :blobcat_sadlife:

Wow, such a beautiful episode :blobcatheart:

It was so well animated, no filler, nothing but the match. Each shot beautifully animated.

Initially I felt bad for them to lose but then I thought the others are a power school and had third years in the team. So it feels organic and natural that they won.

I'm surprised there's a 13th episode next week? They could've wrapped the season with this one.

    Your thoughts?

Very disappointed of how they developed this episode. There was no build-up to the semi-final.

Nikaido's team lost but they didn't show us a single miss/fail.

On the other hand they did show Kazemai missing to then recover with Minato's long draw.

Still, in an instant they were out. All that rivalry of the previous episodes ended in a few seconds.

Am I alone on this? Or do you also think they didn't do this justice?

  23. CW: 📺 Anime - Tsurune 2x10 🏹

    ⭐⭐⭐/5

I was expecting an epic shooting between the two teams but they didn't show us anything. I guess they're saving the good animation scenes for the nationals?

It was funny how Nikaido told Minato and Masa-san his goals all along, crush them at the nationals and drop kyudo 🤭

But of course the power of friendship saving the day. Minato's positive and infinite aura converted Nikaidou-senpai into a friendly rival.

More background on Nikaidō and how he only shoots for revenge. Very original, dude.

I feel he's just unhappy, he practices kyudo to prove everyone wrong and avenge his uncle (even if they didn't do him any wrong? Ok, the master didn't take him as student but that's it?)

    Feels a little weak plot-wise 🤷

The animation as usual, beautiful 💜

  25. #Tsurune ‘s 8th ep was so nice. Just knowing how much suppressed dark emotion they are through, and still was able to get back to being friends is so heartwarming. Also Minato’s mental recovery is just wonderful.
