Called my dad who spent nearly 40 years as a railroad man for Norfolk Southern (and Norfolk & Western before that) we were talking about what how terrible it would be for American shipping if Norfolk Southern is allowed to merge with Union Pacific like they want to, which in turn would probably force CSX to merge with the remaining big railroad and create a situation where most of the freight railroads in America are owned by just 3 companies (most northern freight is operated by a Canadian company)

I can see your point, but I tend to have a more optimistic view.

As the #French Revolution blew away the oligarchs of old (#aristocrats), I think the pendulum of history has reached its maximum amplitude: wealth concentration in the hands of #billionaires, #trusts, and #multinationals is about to reach its climax.

If the momentum of the #Fediverse could be kept, #society just might reach...
