This is the perfect #TrumpShakedown (see 👆)
Trump gets a million upfront to shake Canada down. They've already built the bridge, so will eventually pay him even more to stop blocking it.
He can then return for further shakedowns by ramping up immigration or custom checks.

C'mon. Don't be naive
We all know how the #TrumpShakedown works. He makes a wide range of unhinged, contradictory threats and offers to "be nice".
Then keeps ratcheting up the pressure and waits for people to make their kickback offers to appease him. It's a mob insurance racket.
Even Venezuela (I believe) was a deal offered by the VP in exchange for making her president.

How is this any surprise? The #TrumpShakedown tactic has been very clear.
Make a range of wild, vague threats. Wait for the mark to come and pay the "insurance" to the mob. Then lean on the newly subservient lackey, until you eventually stab them in the back.
How do leaders, countries, media and law firms keep falling for this?

Step one for Trump in any in-person meeting is always to try and charm them.

For months now, I've wondered just how Trump was aiming to profit from attacking Tylenol.
You knew it was another #TrumpShakedown because he was personally engaged in it - esp online.
Now, we know why. It was part of driving down the acquisition price (or so, I speculate)

It was just another #TrumpShakedown - an attempt to dominate the headlines while getting leverage on someone (in this case, both Putin and Zalensky)
Frankly, I'm surprised he didn't say he'd give Ukraine the missiles (and get a headline and some kickback) then simply not do it. There's still time.

I don't think you understand how the #TrumpShakedown works.
It's the same as a mob shakedown, but in public and with full media attention (although never, ever framed as a shakedown). And the resulting payoff is always framed as a "deal" negotiated with Trump.
