I've released version 0.2.0 of the E-Ink Dashboard for Home Assistant. I had a lot of duplicate code PIL renderer in the backend and canvas renderer in the frontend. I found a solution to only have onc: SVG Jinja templates! A browser can display SVG and I can rasterize them for E-Ink Displays. Also the widget are a bit nicer now.

Cuffed at my first crack at adding colour to my MetOffice Site-Specific Hourly Spot Forecast. #trmnl is really making this easy, coupled with the Pico-W’s RTC that sleeps the device for the update frequency so running it off battery power won’t kill it.
Plotting what to do with my eventual purchase of the 13.3” colour ePaper display. Likely will need to spin up my own server to manage all the displays.

Please don't toss your #TRMNL if you already have it, though.
It's still a good piece of hardware that consumed resources and probably does its job really well. The damage is done, but you can still make it yours. If you're not willing to do that, give it to someone who will get some joy from it.
Just make sure that the company behind it doesn't get any more support.

This stings. A lot. I was really looking forward to my #TRMNL, and I'm sure a lot of other people did as well, but please cancel that order if you can. I wouldn't be able to enjoy it now that I know that the CEO is a MAGA prick.

It's been 6 months since I put a #TRMNL device on my desk at work. Calendars, tasks, and all the random information I care about are there at my fingertips.

Собрал, наконец, пришедший месяц назад DIY TRMNL. Прикольная штука - вывел себе в риалтайме расписание автобусов с ближайших остановок, а так же навайбкодил плагин, который тянет с Википедии раз в день картины Гойи и выводит их на экран. Сервер крутится на домашней малинке (наконец она пригодилась!).

I wanna try this https://trmnl.com/guides/turn-your-amazon-kindle-into-a-trmnl on an old Kindle Touch that hasn't been used in years. It'll be (a) a cool project, (b) a nice way to re-use the old Kindle, (c) a means to get a TRMNL without spending. TRMNL matches ideas that I've had about interesting ways to use e-ink displays from when they were first introduced.
Of course, I'll eventually BYOS too. Oh, waitaminit. I should set up the BYOS part first.

I have a TRMNL OG and I really love it. I have it cycling some phrases from therapy that help me, and recently it's been this one:
"how did i do today advocating for myself?"
That's been important in this job search. So much of this is not my fault, not mine to optimize or rewrite.
There have been a number of times where the red flag was brighter than my ability to temporarily explain it away in order to move forward in the interview process.
In one case, my ethics were too disturbed. In another, gatekeeping interviews. In all of the cases, I recognized them early and bowed out as soon as I knew it would be a one-sided compromise for me to go any further. Like, if you tell me it's going to be four courses of leet coding from easy to very difficult, that's a "no thank you" on that team culture - forget the impossible test!
But keeping my agency is how I got there. Recognizing what I am worth, and rising above a situation where what will be seen is not the best me I can offer.

I bought a #TRMNL and on Saturday I managed to make a #TVGuide plugin for it, using the same data that powers https://tvguide.dpope.uk. I’m really pleased with how easy it was to set the device up, and their UI framework was pretty simple to use as well. My plugin could do with a bit of a tweak still but I’ll probably publish a public version soon.
