Apparently Thursday (!) was #trickortreating in the town in which I live. It seems like a bunch of towns/suburbs in #Ohio have decided to follow a rule that doesn't allow #Halloween to occur on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.
Friday and Saturday are reserved for football and therefore Halloween must be moved. Sunday, being the Lord's day, can't have Halloween either.
Because of this #stupidity, my wife and I were out when little kids came to our door last night.
Fuck the #Midwest.

Hometown Halloween
in downtown NapaThis is the day for parents to dress their kids (and themselves, if they wish.) in their Halloween finest, and come Downtown Napa to Trick or Treat. Over 100 businesses will be displaying black & orange balloons at their doors, an invitation for kids to visit. Even if you don’t have children, get yourself a coffee or cool drink, find a good place to sit, and watch the fun.

Today I learned that (some?) kids used to go trick-or-treating without adults accompanying them.
I had no idea that was a thing! My parents walked with us. They’d generally stand at the end of the driveway while we went up to the house to say hello to the owners and get our treats.

It is 4:26 PM and the Bewitching Trick-or-Treating hour starts in 34 minutes.

When I was little, my country was still Communist, a satellite to the USSR... I never got to experience #Halloween and #trickortreating and #jackolanterns and the famed drugs in the candy...
I had to wait until I grow up so I could buy my own drugs 😕
