  1. Messier 33: The #Triangulum Galaxy

    Hastily processed in #PixInsight 🤪

It's been quite a while since I've captured any #skycandy . Weather, family, life! Had a rare clear night last Friday and spent it getting a hang of the ropes with NINA. And dealing with observatory equipment issues due to long idle time.

NINA has matured a lot since the last time I poked around with it a couple years ago!

  13. The Triangulum Galaxy is a spiral galaxy 2.73 million light-years (ly) from Earth in the constellation #Triangulum.

It is catalogued as Messier 33 or NGC (New General Catalogue) 598. With the D25 isophotal diameter of 18.74 kiloparsecs (61,100 light-years), the Triangulum Galaxy is the third-largest member of the Local Group of galaxies, behind the Andromeda Galaxy and the Milky Way.

  14. #PhotoOfTheDay: #Meteor Misses #Galaxy

The galaxy was never in danger. For one thing, the #Triangulum galaxy (M33), pictured, is much bigger than the tiny grain of rock at the head of the meteor.

For another, the galaxy is much farther away -- in this instance 3 million light years as opposed to only about 0.0003 light seconds.

  15. M33 Triangulum Galaxy

M33 is a famous spiral galaxy located in the small northern constellation Triangulum. It is the third largest galaxy in the Local Group, after the Andromeda Galaxy and the Milky Way. The galaxy lies at a distance between 2.38 and 3.07 million light years from Earth and has an apparent magnitude of 5.72.

  16. This is the edit on my most recent capture. M33, the Triangulum Galaxy. Approximately 2.7 million light years from earth. This represents 9 hours and 20 minutes of captured data from the Catskill region of NY. This is the first image out of the newest telescope and was shot with my OSC camera as my mono camera is currently out of commission and likely headed back for repairs. #astrophotography #astronomy #triangulum #galaxy

  17. Seeing still isn't great but I'm giving the scope it's first real test run. Tonight's target is the Triangulum Galaxy (M 33). Unfortunately still having issues with the mono camera, so using the OSC ASI 533MC tonight. First unedited sub is looking good. Here's to what will hopefully be a good night of imaging. #astrophotography #triangulum #zwo #astro-tech #N.I.N.A

In next 4000 million years the biggest #galaxies of our local cluster will #merge. Yes, our own #MilkyWay and the #Andromeda galaxy, and probably also the #Triangulum #galaxy will approach and merge! See the sequence:

  19. M33 Triangulum Galaxy

Magnitude 5.72 spiral galaxy located 2.73 million light-years away in the constellation Triangulum. With a diameter of 61,100 light-years, it is the 3rd largest member of the Local Group, behind Andromeda and our Milky Way.
