  2. Trevi in Rome, my last trip for a couple of years before the pandemic shut down the world. As I've aged, one thing I've been reflecting about, though, is how things have changed.

    True, tourists have always swamped places. But it seems far worse today than my first trip in the '80s. You can't turn around in Firenze without accidentally elbowing another tourist. Photo skills are "how you crop" at Trevi because of the mob surrounding it.

    I think the crowds at the classic spots are bigger. Why? Maybe population increase over the last few decades? Maybe an increasing place at the table for Asian countries and others in Euro tourism? Dunno. But...increasingly a challenge. #rome #italy #trevi
